Looby Loos Nursery and Preschool

Leanne (our Preschool staff) and her daughter Sophie are hosting a stall at the Jubilee Market Fair at The Rock Pub in Brockholes, on Sunday 5th June.
They will be selling cakes 🎂 and doing a chocolate 🍫 tombola, with all of their proceeds being donated to HRI.
Leanne is collecting chocolate 🍫 donations for the chocolate 🍫 Tombola and would be very grateful for any donations. Thanks!

On the day there will be various stalls including sweets, face painting, chocolate tombola, cakes and much more!

This week in precschool we had been doing all about mini beasts, we have done a butterfly tuff tray using the nets to try and catch them.
We used playdough to see what creatures we could create and used the flash cards.
We have been creating ladybird plates using the paint and stamps counting how many spots each one had.
We have been making most of the weather we have been using the construction box, we've played on the bikes, in the castle, and used the hoops and balls.
To finish off the week we have been doing scissor control in the flower tuff tray, we have been making caterpillars paper chains and create bee pictures for national bee day.

In the baby room this week we have been making the most of the beautiful weather by doing lots of our activities outdoors, we have used our senses to explore a sensory tuff tray, gelli baff and painting with feathers. Then we used our hands to create a fish before enjoying a game of football and digging in the damp sand. Today is National Bee Day 🐝 so we have used our feet to make our very own Bee picture as well as using our senses when exploring heuristic play.

We are redoing our show and tell activity next Tuesday the 24th due to some parents forgetting it was today!

Please send your child to nursery with their favourite toy/teddy to share with their friends. Can we request that items that are brought in aren’t too small to minimise the chance of them getting lost!

Today in Preschool, our teeny tiny baby caterpillars were delivered 🐛 We have discussed as a group what we think might happen to them and we are looking forward to watching them grow and see if we were right! We predict that they will eat the food and grow bigger (though they might need some leaves 🍃 to eat too) and then they will turn in to cocoons and then beautiful butterflies 🦋 We will post updates as they grow and change!

In the baby room on Monday we explored lots of different objects and a feather tuff tray for yellow day, they had lots of fun throwing the feathers in the air then trying to catch them. We have also been developing our physical and mathematical skills when joining in with baby ballroom and baking some delicious shortbread biscuits. The babies then enjoyed using sponges to create marks before using their listening skills when exploring a lentil tuff tray and playing with the farm, listening to the noises animals make.

In Preschool last week, Kiran told us all about the celebration of Eid, marking the end of Ramadan. We have spoken about fasting, and how Kiran only ate when the sun was down. We have done Henna designs and made moon and star paintings and mobiles. We have role played making chapatis with the playdough and made some delicious mango lassi and date buns.
As well as this, we have enjoyed some time outside, making some yummy soup in the mud kitchen and using our physical skills in the castle to climb and slide, and painted the chalkboard.
In Yoga, we kicked off our minibeast topic by doing our poses to a story about a minibeast party!
We had the dentist role play box out too, and spent some time pretending to go to the dentist, checking each others teeth and seeing how shiny and clean they are!

This week in the Tweenie room we have been super busy ☺️. We have been getting messy by playing with the rainbow shaving foam 🌈 and the mud kitchen, which we loved! We also made collages of ourselves by looking in the mirror and also made rainy day pictures ☔️. We have enjoyed learning about Eid, and space for space day. We made rocket pictures and space play dough 🚀.

This week the babies have used their artistic skills to create a beautiful butterfly collage, some wonderful spring flowers and a colourful mark making masterpiece. They have also been exploring a zoo tuff tray, learning all the noises the animals make, we followed this with animal inset puzzles trying to fit the shapes into spaces and develop our mathematical skills. Then we had lots of fun trying different hats on and looking at our reflection in the mirror.

The babies have enjoyed lots of different activities this week, they used their creative skills to make a sunflower with their hands and enjoyed making marks with wax crayons and paint brushes. They have also been exploring the wooden treasure basket and had lots of fun with the sea creatures in the water. We then hid large shiny pebbles in shaving foam for the babies to find and played hide and seek outside in the teepee. At the end of the week we enjoyed developing our fine motor skills when threading pipe cleaners through small holes, this also helped to develop our concentration skills.

Some of Preschool had a spontaneous trip to the park this morning, exploring the play equipment and running around the field.

The Tweenies have been busy making lots of spring and Easter crafts, getting messy in all kinds of activities, searching for Easter eggs and having lots of fun! We’ve been talking lots about spring and what changes we are seeing outside, looking at the leaves, the flowers and enjoying more of the spring sunshine☀️
