😁🦷 World Smile Day! 😁

Today in preschool, we have been celebrating World Smile Day and learning all about how to keep our smiles happy and healthy! 💛

The children have been practising their toothbrushing skills, talking about which foods are healthy for our teeth and which foods we should enjoy in moderation. 🍎🥕🍬

We have also been chatting about visiting the dentist, exploring what happens during a check-up and helping to build confidence about looking after our teeth.

This week in the toddler room the children have been exploring their emotions through the colour monster.
We have enjoyed wonderful discussions about our feelings and can affect them.

Today we focused on developing our fine motor skills by using pipettes to match the colours to the colour monsters feelings to the right emotions. This activity is a great way to enhance our pre-mark making skills, as we practise squeezing and releasing the pipettes with our fingers.

It also encourages the children to openly express their emotions and share how they feel by choosing which emotion they would like to colour in. 🔵🔴🟡

🚦 To celebrate black history month in the preschool room this week, we have been learning all about Garrett Morgan and his invention of the three-way traffic light! 🌟

The children enjoyed finding out how traffic lights help to keep us safe on the roads. We then got creative and made our very own traffic lights using different coloured tissue paper and glue.

This simple activity is great for developing fine motor skills, hand strength, pincer grip and hand-eye coordination — all important skills for later tasks such as writing, using scissors and fastening buttons.

This week in our Preschool room, we have been enjoying a selection of stories all about families and talking together about how every family is different and special in its own way.

We have been sharing our ideas about the people who are important to us and celebrating all the different family structures that make each of us unique.

The children have also enjoyed drawing pictures of their own families, giving them an opportunity to express who is important in their lives through creativity.

The children selected a box decorated with vibrant paints, creating their own unique houses. Once the pain has dried, they used black pens to draw different shaped windows.

This week in toddler room we are exploring all about me. The children today have been making playdough faces.
We have been looking at ourselves in mirrors and looking at our features.
The children then used different resources to make their own faces. 👧🏽
