A Saturday well spent with Hepworth Hurricanes Netball Club a few weeks back.💜

Sarah delivered an Emergency First Aid at Work session for the team, giving them the opportunity to practise essential first aid skills and build their confidence should they ever need to respond in an emergency.

A brilliant group who got fully involved with the practical side of the training.👏

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. 💜

Conversations about mental health aren’t always easy, particularly when you’re worried that someone may be struggling and you don’t know what to say or how to help.

Our Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health course gives people the knowledge and confidence to recognise signs of mental ill health, start a supportive conversation and signpost someone towards appropriate professional help.

The course covers a range of topics, including stress, depression, anxiety, self-harm and su***de, alongside practical guidance for supporting mental health in the workplace.

Our upcoming course dates are:

The course costs £100 plus VAT and the qualification is valid for three years.

Well today it was my turn to help with a road traffic accident.

On my way to work, there was a collision between 2 vehicles, and although there were no physical injuries, there was the emotional side of first aid needed.

One driver was shaken up from the impact, and another very emotional and in shock.

So I spent time getting the information needed for insurance companies and listened to how they were feeling- they needed to talk.

So after calling workplaces, and asking for the CCTV footage, an hour and a half later I was back at work.

Remember, first aid isn’t always the need for an ambulance, it’s about making the situation safe and reassuring and listening to those who need you at that time.

Benedict’s Law changes the way schools in England need to approach allergy safety.

From this academic year, allergy management is no longer something that should sit with only one or two members of staff.

Schools are expected to have clear allergy policies, ensure staff understand how to recognise and respond to anaphylaxis, and have emergency medication available.

Why does that matter?

Because an allergic reaction could happen in the classroom, playground, dining hall or on a school trip, and the nearest person may not be the designated first aider.

We’re already working with schools to help their teams understand the new requirements and, more importantly, feel confident about what to do in a real emergency.
