A big congratulations to Harlequin Nursery for being named a Top 20 Nursery in Yorkshire and Humberside.

The accolade from daynurseries.co.uk is awarded to nurseries with outstanding feedback and reviews from families and carers whose children attend the nursery.

It highlights nurseries that consistently deliver high standards in care and education.

Harlequin has a 10/10 review rating on daynurseries.co.uk and has been rated Ofsted Outstanding on their last three inspections.

“This award means so much to all of us at Harlequin,” said Manager, Nina. “I could not be more proud of every single member of our team. They show up every day with so much heart and it is wonderful to see that reflected in the kind words our parents have shared.

“Knowing that families feel happy, supported and truly at home here makes every moment worthwhile.”

Our little scientists have been busy celebrating with hands‑on exploration and plenty of colourful discoveries.

This week we’ve been experimenting with magnets, watching objects attract and repel, creating bright rainbows through colour mixing, and peering through microscopes to spot tiny details we can’t see on our own. The children have shown so much curiosity and joy as they explore, experiment, and make sense of the world around them. 🌈🧲🔍

World Book Day magic at Portland Nurseries ✨
Stories aren’t just fun — they’re building brains. Research shows that early reading strengthens language pathways, boosts emotional development, and lays the foundations for lifelong learning.

Watching our children dive into books today reminds us how powerful a simple story can be. 📚💛 Here’s to growing readers, thinkers, and storytellers.

Celebrating diversity and inclusion!🌍✨

From multicultural books to exploring festivals like today’s Holi, Lunar New Year, Eid, Lent and Easter, we’re helping children learn about the many cultures that shape our world.
We’ve also been using stories and simple awareness activities to help children understand that diversity includes different abilities too.
