Lindley Scarecrow Festival 2026

Look who's joined the Lindley Scarecrow Trail this year !
Our Lindley Junior School scarecrows are looking snuggly in their colourful coats and school-coloured woolly hats!
We're delighted to be part of this wonderful community event and hope lots of you will be out enjoying the trail over the weekend.

We would like to celebrate the achievement of William, one of our Year 6 pupils. As part of an award at Scouts, William set himself a challenge to collect 100kg of litter from the local area. He has been out and about, come rain or shine, and actually managed to collect 104.2kg of rubbish (more than 4 times his own bodyweight!) - 38 bin liners full.
William also aimed to raise £100 for Keep Britain Tidy, but in the end raised £360!

We celebrated William's achievement on Friday in assembly and Year 5 and 6 thanked him for making their play spaces nicer places to be.

And after that, on Sunday, he was awarded the Lindley Community Hero Award 2026!

A MASSIVE well done William, and thank you for helping to tidy up our local area!

This afternoon we held our annual Mini Sports competition. This is run entirely by our Year 6 pupils, who plan and resource 12 different games for pupils in the other year groups to play. Once again we were blown away by how well the Year 6 pupils explained and organised their games. They left the field exhausted after having an insight into the life of a teacher! A wonderful afternoon was had by all.

Starting from today and continuing over the coming weeks, we are completely changing how our lunchtime play is structured and managed. Pupils will have more opportunities to engage in imaginative, creative and exciting play opportunities through use of different 'zoned' areas for them to choose from and change as they like.
One area which was very popular today was our Small World zone and we would like to enhance it further with more equipment. Could you help us?

We have given away so many awards today to our amazing Year 6s!

⭐️ The Miss Thompson Award for Academic Achievement was shared between Mili and Farhan, who have both been on incredible journeys throughout their time at LJS.

⭐️ The Music Award was shared between Pixie and Henry, who have both shown enthusiasm and talent in their musical endeavours and have represented school on several occasions.

⭐️ Three shared sports awards were given -
✨️The LJS Sporting Endeavour Award was given to Gracie, Harry and Alara;
✨️ The Sporting Leadership Award was given to George, Freddie and Willow;
✨️ The Outstanding Sportsperson Award was given to Roman, Samuel and Zainab.

⭐️ And the brand-new Excellence in Physical Activity Award was presented to George!

⭐️ Finally, the Sports Day trophy was awarded to Bronte - well done to all in Bronte for your wonderful win!
