🌈 The Art of Connection 🌈

Fridays for 10 of our year 3 pupils are the highlight of the week, last week the children made bracelets with a word that describes something about the sessions we’ve taken part in over the past 5 weeks and their names. It really was a wonderful, calm afternoon. Even support dog Winnie got some beads for her collar, she can never miss out! 🐶

On Monday, some of our School Council members went on a mission to The Newsome Centre to help out with keeping the area free of dog dirt. We were delighted to be met by Mayor Karen Allison who supported the children in painting stencils onto the paths around the centre. Let‘s hope these reminders make a difference! 🤩

A special mention to Miss Arundale, who volunteers to support us in her free time to make these trips out possible! ⭐️

🌳 Year 6 Residential 🌳

We are loving keeping up with the year 6 trip to the Lakes, if not a tiny bit jealous! 😆

The children are having an amazing time, just look at all of the action packed, outdoor activities they have done so far, and it’s only day 2! 🤩

Our School Council LOVED Wednesday morning at Berry Brow, what a wonderful group of children we have joining us in September! 🤩

We had a wonderful and informative morning with the Newsome Junior school council, who shared what life is like at junior school. Everyone is so excited- September can't come soon enough!📚

Friday was a special day for our workshop, one of the lovely ladies, Jan, turned 80! Jan spent her birthday with us writing poems about OUR BEST DAY EVER! 🤩

It's moments like this I feel so blessed to be part of: the sharing, the laughter and creative buzz, I Love it!!
This is a little snapshot of some of the Intergenerational Workshops Chris and I have been running with Our Creative Connection as part of the Arts Council funded project 'Art of Connection'.

We have had the pleasure of partnering with two local primary schools: Newsome Junior Academy and St Patricks Catholic Primary, where children have been joined by older adults from the schools local communities. We have been looking at what makes a 'Best Day Ever', adventures we have been on and adventures we would like to go on in the future.

This photo is from the collage session at Newsome Juniors...lots and lots of colourful choices to be made, conversation and ideas flow back and forth, it was a very lovely day indeed!!

🤠 YEE-HAW 🤠

Year 6 voted and the winning theme for the leavers disco is the Wild West. Prizes for the best dressed cowboys and cowgirls! 🤠

As always, all pupils are invited to have one last dance with our year 6 pupils before they venture off to secondary school. 🥹 Pencil the date in your diaries, tickets will be on sale very shortly! 🤩
