Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary Academy

This week Year 6 have been taking part in the Aspire programme with West Yorkshire Police. As part of the programme they had workshops in first aid, healthy living, criminal justice and self defence. Through some of the tasks they demonstrated perseverance and resilience, had to make difficult decisions and worked as part of a team. They finished the week by sharing their experience and educating the rest of key stage two (and their parents) with a very informative assembly on how we can make the right choices to keep ourselves safe. Thank you to PC Kelsey and PCMunn, as well as The Base, RABC Boxing, and Creative International Adventures for giving our children these fantastic experience.

Today we celebrated our feast day - the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. We are thankful to Fr Simonpeter, who celebrated Mass with us. It was wonderful to have so many parishioners join us on our special day. Well done to Year 3 who led us in our liturgy with their excellent reading and beautiful singing.

Our girls team had their first outing in our new school kit. Whilst the result didn’t go our way, they certainly showed their team spirit and commitment. Well done girls.

Preparations are in full swing for our car boot sale this morning. Join us from 11.30 am. All proceeds go to the parish restoration fund.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our pupils back tomorrow.

Thank you to Canon Martin for celebrating our end of year Mass with us. It was a beautiful occasion to say goodbye to our Year 6 pupils.

We did it!!! We have walked the 1031 miles to Lourdes. Well done to all the children and adults who walked daily to reach our target. 🥳🥳🥳

Tonight we rolled out the red carpet for our Year 6 pupils as they premiered their production of “Pantastic”.

We have been out walking in solidarity with the pilgrims from our parish. We have now walked 567miles and are near the town of Vivoin in France. Over halfway there!!!

Well done to our Year 6 sports stars who were recognised for their skills and achievements at the Pennine Sports Awards at the Town Hall last night. They were presented with their awards by Olympic athlete Alexander Bell.
