This report published on the gov.uk website last week is part of a series of curriculum research reviews designed to raise the quality of early years education.

A really interesting read and this particular paragraph filled with me joy! Something I've been really trying to promote for the last few years. There is absolutely no rush to teach preschool children letters and their matching sounds; focusing on key speaking and listening skills will help prepare them and give children a solid foundation for LATER phonics instruction.

Well it’s not often it happens but I have a space become available.

Well the day we have been dreading finally arrived 😢. I have had the pleasure of being able to care for this little sweetheart for the last 3 years, but this week she had to leave us as she is starting her journey at big school. I am so proud to have been able to watch her grow from being very small, into a beautiful, confident, kind and caring little girl with the sweetest personality.

It’s definitely not goodbye, it’s a ‘see you soon’, because she and her family have become part of ours and they all mean the world to us. We will be keeping in touch and meeting up and we will never be far away. Go show the world what you’re made of H…you’re gonna be amazing and we all love you so much 🤩 # # #

So this week we took the children to visit Millingtons Magical Barn. What a wonderful experience for them to be able to get up close and cuddle these beautiful, friendly animals. Thank you so much to Jake and his lovely team of volunteers for guiding us around the sanctuary, we had THE best morning ❤️

Well we’ve been quiet lately as we’ve had building work going for quite a while so it’s been a little busy. But this week, thanks to one of our lovely friends Zowie Peach for taking the time to organise it for us all, we were very lucky to be able visit our local Fire Station.

The children learned what number to ring in an emergency if we needed help. They got to sit in a fire engine and learned about all the different types of equipment they carry and use, and the different types of emergencies that the firefighters help with. They even got to operate the hose and sq**rt water everywhere !

We particularly enjoyed the lovely Chrissie’s childcare modelling the firefighters heavy kit (I think she did too lol). What a thoroughly enjoyable morning we all had, huge thanks to Huddersfield Fire Station for allowing us to bring the children for such an amazing experience.
