You don’t need to hate your job to want more options. 🤍

Sometimes learning a new skill isn’t about completely changing your career.

It’s about knowing you have something else to fall back on.

Something you can build around your current life.

Something that could bring in extra income when you need it.

One evening a week. A couple of Saturdays a month. A few extra clients around your existing job.

And maybe, eventually, it becomes something bigger.

I’ve always believed qualifications should give you options — not pressure to have your whole future figured out.

That’s exactly why I created The Academy Edit.

Practical, accredited beauty training designed to give you a skill you can actually go away and use.

Learn the skill. Build it your way. 🤍

I stepped into the beauty industry making cups of tea, folding towels and doing all the little jobs nobody really notices.

And to be fair, nobody really noticed me either.

I had no idea where this industry would take me.

15 years later, I’ve been flown around the world to train, taught in some of the most incredible 5-star hotels and spas, sat in rooms with CEOs, helped open spas, created treatments for spa brands, written courses for awarding bodies and taught in Further Education.

But the bit that means the most?

The people.

I’ve taught people skills that have made them money and given them choices.

I’ve watched students build businesses, buy the car, go on maternity leave with something of their own to come back to, leave jobs they hated and create more freedom in their lives.

And after years of teaching and building other people up…

I built my own beauty training academy. 🥺

Then the other day, someone came up to me and said:

“I follow The Academy Edit.”

Such a tiny comment, but she had no idea what that meant to me.

Because I immediately thought about that girl making the cups of tea and folding the towels.

Nobody really noticed her then.

And now someone recognised something she built. 🥺🤎

Maybe I need to spend a little less time worrying about where I’m going and remember how bloody far I’ve already come.

Lymphatic drainage is so much more than learning a routine. If you’re offering this treatment, you need to understand what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and when you shouldn’t.

1. Pressure matters
The lymphatic system is superficial, so deeper doesn’t automatically mean better. Traditional manual lymphatic drainage uses gentle, rhythmic movements designed to encourage lymph flow.

2. You need to know your contraindications
Not every client is suitable. Your consultation matters, and certain medical conditions, acute infections or unexplained swelling may mean treatment needs to be postponed or medical clearance sought.

3. Direction is everything
This isn’t a massage routine where we just move fluid around randomly. Understanding lymphatic pathways and drainage areas is essential to performing the treatment safely and effectively.

4. You need to understand WHY your client is swollen
Fluid retention can have lots of different causes. A good lymphatic therapist knows when something falls within their scope — and when it needs referring on.

5. Results aren’t just about what happens on the bed
Hydration, movement, breathing and appropriate aftercare can all support your client following their treatment.

This is exactly why my training goes beyond simply teaching you the movements. I want you to leave understanding the lymphatic system, anatomy & physiology, consultation, contraindications, treatment planning and practical techniques so you feel confident treating real clients.

✨ JADE Jade | Skin & Beauty Therapist at Beauty Boutique, Huddersfield ✨

This is exactly why I love what I do 🥹

Jade trained with me in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) & Wood Therapy for the Face & Body and is now getting ready to return to the treatment room after maternity leave with a brand new treatment to offer her clients. 🤍

Jade is already an experienced therapist based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and wanted to add something different to her treatment menu — combining her existing skills with lymphatic drainage and body sculpting techniques.

And THIS is what training should be about.

Not just collecting another certificate.

It’s about learning a skill you feel confident actually taking back into your business, creating new treatments and giving your clients another reason to book with you.

If you’re local to Huddersfield and looking for lymphatic drainage, wood therapy, face or body treatments, keep an eye on Jade as she launches her new treatment. ✨

And if you’re a beauty, massage or holistic therapist thinking, I want to add this to my treatment menu too…

My MLD & Wood Therapy Face & Body training in West Yorkshire is designed to give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to actually USE what you learn.

In a world that feels SO polished… just be yourself. 🤍

Someone asked me the other day, “Do you ever get di****ad clients or students?” 😂

And I genuinely said… no.

Not because they don’t exist 😂 but because I seem to attract my people.

After years in the beauty industry, working as a beauty therapist, trainer and now running my own beauty training academy in West Yorkshire, one thing I’ve learnt is that you really don’t need to be the most polished person on Instagram to build a successful beauty business.

Your personality IS part of your brand.

The right clients will get your humour.
The right students will feel comfortable learning from you.
The right people will choose you because you’re YOU.

So whether you’re a beauty therapist building your business, thinking about getting into the beauty industry, or looking for advanced beauty training to take your career somewhere new…

Don’t get so caught up trying to look “professional” that you edit out everything that makes you different.

Be a bit weird. Have a laugh. Ask the stupid questions. Show your personality.

Your people will find you. 🤍

And if this sounds like your kind of tribe… you’ll fit right in at The Academy Edit. 👀

We can offer the same treatments, work in the same industry & still want to see each other win. 🤎

There is room for all of us in this industry.

One of the things I love most about training is seeing beauty therapists, aspiring beauty professionals and salon owners learn new skills, grow in confidence and then go on to build businesses of their own.

At The Academy Edit, I offer hands-on beauty and massage training in Yorkshire, including lymphatic drainage training, wood therapy training, body sculpting and advanced facial courses.

Small groups. Live models. Accredited training. Ongoing support after your course. ✨

Because creating more amazing therapists doesn’t create competition — it creates a better industry.

Community over competition. Always. 🤍

Kinda chic… watching women back themselves and build something of their own 🤍

Some of the women in these photos came to me right at the beginning of their journey. Some already had amazing skills and successful businesses but wanted to upskill, learn something new and keep evolving. Some wanted to completely change direction. And some simply needed that little push to believe they could do it.

And that’s the thing — there’s no right place to be when you invest in yourself.

You might be just starting out, you might be years into your business, or you might just be ready for something new.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

Book the course. Learn the skill. Add the treatment. Take the client. Post the picture. Keep building your confidence as you go.

I’ve watched so many women walk into training questioning themselves and leave excited, motivated and proud of what they can do — and that will always be one of my favourite parts of teaching 🥹🤍

So whether you’re thinking about starting your own business, adding something new to an already amazing skill set, or simply investing in you… maybe this is your sign.

You’re never too new to start and never too experienced to keep learning. 🤍

This glow was created using nothing but hands.

No machines. No peel. No fancy products.

Just my new lymphatic facial massage routine — performed by one of my students during training 🤍

And THIS is exactly why I’m so passionate about teaching technique, not just treatments.

Understanding the lymphatic system, knowing how to work with the face and mastering your hands can completely elevate the results you’re able to create for your clients.

The best part? This was my student’s work 🥹🤎

My new Lymphatic Facial Sculpt training brings together lymphatic drainage, sculpting techniques and tools to give therapists a routine they can confidently take straight back into the treatment room.

September training dates now available 🤍
