In Y1, in Vehicle, we continued our learning about animals in Africa. Sherwood Bear went on an exciting safari adventure! We used our knowledge of compass points to help direct the safari car around a map. The children practised using the directions north, east, south and west, as well as counting how many squares to move. By following and giving directions, we successfully travelled across the map to spot a variety of African animals. We had lots of fun developing our geography and positional language skills while exploring the African savannah! 🐆🦁🦓🦏🦒

Attendance
Year 4 have been a real success this week, with an average attendance of 96.3% – a great reflection of the collective effort from staff, pupils and families. Thank you to everyone involved in supporting this improvement.
We are still seeing that a small number of individuals are having a significant impact on overall attendance. As we move towards the end of some current procedures, we’ll be working together with families to ensure there is greater shared accountability and the right support in place.
As mentioned previously, the number of home visits is increasing where children are absent for extended periods. These visits are always driven by safeguarding and our commitment to ensuring every child is safe and well, regardless of whether absences have been reported.
If staff are unable to make contact at home, they may speak with neighbours as part of our welfare checks. In more serious cases, we may need to involve agencies to help establish a child’s whereabouts. These steps are taken with care and always in the best interest of the child.
Clear, consistent communication remains key. Thank you for continuing to share updates promptly and working together to support our children’s attendance and wellbeing.

Attendance.
As we begin the final half term of the academic year, attendance remains a key focus for our school. Unfortunately, attendance across Upper KS2 has been below 90% in recent weeks, and we are keen to see this improve as we head towards the end of the year.
Regular attendance plays a vital role in children's academic progress, confidence, and social development. Where there are frequent absences recorded, home visits may be considered to help us ensure that the information provided is accurate and that we can offer appropriate support where needed.
On a much more positive note, a huge congratulations to F2SB, who finished the week with an outstanding 100% attendance! This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment shown by both the children and their families. F2SB have consistently maintained high attendance standards throughout the year, setting a wonderful example for others to follow. Well done, F2SB!
Let's all work together to finish the year strongly and give every child the best opportunity to succeed.
