A very sad state of reality for childminders at the moment - This government is hell bent on destroying this sector and the decline in hard working, amazing childminders is at an all time high.

Funding rates that mean we can only just make ends meet, money out of our own pockets so we can provide high quality education ✅

Removed tax reliefs "Wear & tear" so not only are we receiving inadequate funding now, they are removing a huge amount of tax relief. With zero regard for our homes that endure the daily wear and tear on our own personal belongings - carpets, sofas, paint work, and so on. ✅

Advertise "Free childcare" but yet it's only term time only, set amount of hours per week and care hours only... WE have to explain this to frustrated parents. ✅

Forever changing Ofsted/EYFS guidelines but give you no clear cut answers or support. (Even they don't know what half of it means most of the time) ✅

Create new unrealistic regulations especially on healthy eating - Tells us to serve avocado on sourdough toast for breakfast, yet advertise jam on toast for "Free school breakfast" Jam not "allowed" in settings - Zero consistency throughout. ✅

Constantly forgetting to mention the sector, huge focus on creating more "School Nursery spaces" yet forgetting that more than 97% of childminders get rated good or outstanding, put their hearts and soul into the work and often more flexible/understanding to their families. ✅

If you have young children, Ask yourself this... How easy was it to find a space for your child at a well respected, high rated and good quality education? Waiting lists for ALL sectors are at an all time high, people are joining the lists whilst pregnant!!

Why is this? Because the government is killing the sector one step at a time!! More and more childminders and nurseries are closing because they can't survive, The government are pushing for school nurseries because they can "hold" more children creating a large visible expansion of funded places, which gets people back into work quicker and in turn more tax for them.

School nurseries are "BELIEVED" and drip fed into people that they are seen to be better for getting children school ready... I beg to differ. And why so egar for children to be pushed into the classroom at such young in age? Ask yourself that. 💰💰

Do you really think by destroying childminders and then private nurseries the waiting lists will get better? The quality of education and care will be the same when they become a number in a huge setting?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

So please!!! - Support the private childcare sector and hug your childminders that little bit more, Because right now we are fighting for our survival and livelihoods more than ever. (And this is just the surface pressures)

We are not usually ones for politics, but enough is enough.

This also isn't a reflection on the hard working childcare providers in private nurseries, This is the governments doing! ❤️

I cant believe we are entering the final week.
