The Home by the Sea Nursery is a nursery that provides high-quality childcare to its close community.

We believe that children learn best when they are having fun. We have created an exciting and stimulating homely environment where children can learn through play. Home from Home is set in a spacious Victorian family home with a 100ft garden complete with apple trees and allotment. We have a fantastic teem of caring staff who work with our parents to ensure your child is safe and happy in their "home from home".

A step back in time at Home by the Sea! 🚗✨

We had a very special visitor when one of our lovely parents brought in his beautiful vintage car for the children to explore.

The children were fascinated as they took a closer look, asked questions and discovered some of the differences between cars from years ago and the ones we see on the roads today.

Our parent also brought along some traditional tools to show the children, giving them the chance to see how they were used and find out a little more about how things have changed over time.

The morning didn't end there! We enjoyed a story together before the children had the chance to dress up in old-fashioned clothing and use their imaginations to step back in time themselves.

A huge thank you to our parent for taking the time to share his car, knowledge and stories with us. It made for such a memorable morning at nursery. 💛

A Special Visit to Our Local Care Home 🌸

Some of the loveliest moments happen when generations come together.

Our children recently spent time with the residents at our local care home, sharing smiles, conversations and plenty of happy moments along the way. It was heartwarming to watch the children and residents enjoy one another's company and see those connections begin to form.

Experiences like these are an important part of helping children feel connected to the community around them, while naturally encouraging kindness, care and respect for others.

A huge thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome. We loved spending time with you and are already looking forward to our next visit! 🌷

Little Explorers, Big Adventures! 🚌🌟

What an exciting day for our preschoolers! Our little explorers had the wonderful opportunity to venture out into our community and experience travelling on public transportation.

From the excitement of waiting for the bus to observing everything happening around them, every moment became a meaningful learning experience. The children practised important life skills, built confidence, and discovered that learning can happen everywhere.

And what made this trip even more special was the amazing involvement of one of our wonderful dads, who joined us for the adventure! His time, enthusiasm, and support made the experience even more memorable for our children and helped strengthen the beautiful connection between our preschool, our families, and our community.

We are so grateful for families who get involved and help us create these special moments. When families and educators come together, our children’s learning becomes richer, more joyful, and truly meaningful.

A big thank you to our amazing dad for joining us, and a huge well done to our little adventurers! We can’t wait to see where our next community adventure takes us!

iStep into School 🌟

School readiness looks different for every child.
Some children will feel excited, others may need a little more reassurance, and both are completely normal. Every child develops at their own pace.

A few gentle ways to support the transition include:
• Remembering that every child settles differently.
• Practising short separations where appropriate.
• Keeping goodbyes positive and reassuring.
• Talking positively about starting school.
• Celebrating the things your child can already do.

Starting school is a big milestone for the whole family, and it's perfectly normal for parents to feel emotional too.

Because school readiness isn't about reaching a finish line – it's about taking the next step with confidence.

Our school leavers have been thoroughly enjoying our exciting science activity, “Build Your Own Volcano and Make It Erupt!” 🌋

This fun and engaging activity was designed to make science exciting and accessible, giving our children the opportunity to explore simple scientific concepts through creativity, curiosity and experimentation.

The children were encouraged to design, build and decorate their very own volcanoes, before creating an eruption and watching their creations come to life. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they made predictions, experimented and observed the spectacular results!

We also wanted to extend the learning beyond the classroom, so the activity was specially tailored to involve families at home. Children could share the experience with their parents, carers and siblings, creating their own volcano together and enjoying a fun-filled science experiment as a family.

It was a fantastic opportunity for families to learn, laugh and make special memories together, while discovering that science can be exciting, creative and lots of fun! 🌋🧪

We loved seeing the children's enthusiasm and creativity and hope our families enjoyed continuing the science adventure at home too!

Little Routines, Big Confidence 🌟

Simple routines at home can make all the difference:
👕 Laying out clothes the night before.
🕒 Using a visual timetable for morning routines.
🙌 Encouraging children to do things independently where possible.
🧥 Practising putting on coats and shoes.
☀️ Allowing plenty of time for calm, unhurried mornings.

Children thrive when they know what to expect. Predictable routines help build confidence and create a positive start to each day.

On Friday, we celebrated our wonderful School Leavers with a very special picnic! 🌞🎓💛

What a fantastic day it was! The children enjoyed a morning full of fun, laughter and excitement with sports activities, face painting, games, and a delicious picnic shared with their friends, families and our nursery team. It was so lovely to welcome our parents to join us as we celebrated this important milestone together.

Watching the children laugh, play and create special memories before beginning their next adventure made the day truly unforgettable.

To our amazing School Leavers, we are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. It has been a privilege to watch you grow, learn and flourish during your time with us. As you take your next big step into school, we wish you every success, happiness and confidence. Keep being curious, kind and brave – the future is yours!

A huge thank you to all our families for your continued support and for helping make the day so special. We will miss our little stars, but we know they are ready to shine brightly in their new schools. 🌟 Good luck, Class of 2026! We can't wait to hear about all your new adventures.
