Just under a week to go in our Design a Bookmark competition.

We've had a lot of artists live in the borough over the years, so we know there's plenty of talent out there: Are you a budding Hogarth or van Gogh?

Ask staff for details and for a template.

It's LGBT+ Pride month in the UK!

Special history and awareness months help us remember communities which have been mistreated or marginalised throughout history.

We aim to celebrate progress, and promote better understanding between people.

The books on display are available all year round, not just this month!

We've had a few entries trickling in, but there's always room for more! Pop into your local Community Hub & Library to get a template and more details from staff.

There will be one winner from the adult submissions, and one from children's, in case you were worried about too much competition 😄.

What a lovely half term we had in Hounslow Libraries! Each library had a craft session, and here we have a few examples - a real Spring parade of fun flora and fauna!

Feltham Library's latest LEGO for Families session was a masterclass in imagination this week - the participants were asked to think of their dream pet scenario. Now, we were thinking of a dog that doesn't moult, or a house-trained dinosaur, but we got so much more!!

We had a Penguin whose tail was a broom and whose fringe was a feather-duster. He could survive in an English-climate home, and his tummy had a fan to help keep him cool while he cleaned the place!

We also had a rainbow cat who could sniff out gold at the end of rainbows; a cat which came with it's own robot vacuum cleaner for its hair & p**p (so that dad's allergies were not triggered) as well as a light in it's fur so it would never be run over. One family even designed their dream aquarium!

We'll be hosting two special sessions in the Summer, so watch out for more brick fun in August.

This week we launched our Design a Bookmark competition in celebration of the National Year of Reading!

Pick up a template from your local community hub & library and submit a design before 23rd June. The winning bookmark will be printed and made available across the Hounslow Libraries network.

We had a lovely time celebrating Elmer Day at Feltham and Bedfont libraries last week - with displays, stories, games, and crafts in honour of the Patchwork Elephant!

Elmer's idea of being kind to everyone - however they look - goes far beyond Elmer Day though, why not read the books to find out more!
