🎆 HAPPY DIWALI AND BANDI CHHOR DIVAS! 🎆

We spent our day making these lovely Diyas! This was such a diverse activity as there was so much for the children to do!
From making the salt dough from scratch, to baking it and learning all about cooking safety, then finally painting and decorating the Diyas! 🪔

We also learnt all about the story of Guru Hargobind ji, and did some colouring to commemorate the Day of Liberation! 🙏🏻

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 St George's Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Yesterday we celebrated St George's Day in the nursery by learning all about St George and doing various activities 🐉

We created handprint dragons and our very own crowns! 👑

Even Loki dressed up for the occasion 🐾

🌍 Earth Day 🌍

Today we celebrated Earth Day! We spoke about all the wonders of nature, and ways we can help our Earth to grow and thrive! 🌱💗

On our walk today we brought our nature list with us and ticked off all the things we could see 👀🐦

We then did a counting and recycling activity, discussing all materials that can be recycled and how fruits and veg can be put in the compost and used to help our plants grow!🪴♻️

Last week we planted some cherry tomatoes, and after lots of good care from the little ones, today we counted how many stems we can see growing 🍅

We also created beautiful images of Earth using our hands 👐🏻

🌸 Hana Matsuri 🌸

Translating to 'Flower Festival' in English, Hana Matsuri is celebrated in most Japanese Buddhist temples, along with parades and gatherings, to celebrate the birth of the historical Buddah ☸

So today on our walk we picked some flowers and decorated our Buddah pictures with them, while learning all about traditional Japanese Culture 🎍

🥕 International Carrot Day! 🥕

We had SO much fun at nursery today doing all things carrot!
From Carrot painting to Carrot footprints, and making our own Carrot and cheese love hearts!👣🧡

It's a good job it's one of our favourite vegetables in this setting 🤣

I even got a nice pedicure of my own from the kids 😬

A Home from Home, Our Nursery Family 👩‍👧‍👦💕

📚 WORLD BOOK DAY 2022 📚

Last week was World Book Day, and we had lots of fun celebrating at our setting! 🥳

In the morning it was just myself and Little G, we went to our local green space in search for a Gruffalo! Unfortunately all we found were pigeons and squirrels.. they were still enough fun to watch and chase though! 🐿

In the afternoon we had Little O and Big O join us, we all did some glueing and sticking to create our very own Elmer Elephants 🐘

Reading our favourite books was so much fun, and it was great to see the wide range of books the children enjoy! 👨‍🚀👸🦸‍♂️🧚‍♀️

Little O has finished her settling in sessions this week, and one thing that has been abundantly clear is that she LOVES nature and being outdoors 🌿 (and Loki🐶)

As English is O's second language, settling in has been very daunting on her. Being in a new setting with people speaking a language she isn't very familiar with is very scary, but she has done so amazingly! 👏🏻🥳

It has been great to see O's confidence grow each day, and I can't wait for it to grow even more in time! 🥰

💫WHY ARE SETTLING IN SESSIONS SO IMPORTANT?! 💫

Being away from Mum&Dad (or primary caregiver) can be so daunting on little ones, as well as carers! Settling in sessions are an important part of the transition process from home to nursery. It allows the child to become familiar with you as their key worker, and the environment around them. It also gives parents the chance to see how well their child will adapt to a new setting, and determine that your nursery is the right one for them!👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Little L has just finished her settling in sessions this week and has done AMAZINGLY! The first session was used to let L get familiar with myself and her surroundings, I used this time to see what interests she has! 🚗

I then used these interests to set up appropriate activities for her the next couple of days. Safe to say she had a LOT of fun, and I'm confident she will do just great for her full days! 🙌🏻

Happy Chinese New Year! Year of the Tiger 🐯

We celebrated today by making some Laterns and Tigers, listening to traditional Chinese music, serving some homemade Chinese style food, and we also tried our hand at making some dumplings! 🥟

Living in such a diverse area of London, it is so important that we teach our children about the different cultures that surround us. This is a key part of teaching British Values in the EYFS. Teaching to understand different cultures can help to reduce ignorance and misinformation later in life. 🇨🇳

I hope everyone has had a wonderful time celebrating with their loved ones, I know we sure had a LOT of fun! 🎊

HAPPY WINNIE THE POOH DAY! 🧸🍯

It's no secret that here at Teddies, we absolutely LOVE Winnie-the-Pooh, so we had SO much fun doing lots of activities today! 🐝

We baked some Honey Cookies, went for an expedition to find some heffalumps and woozles (we didn't 😔) and did some really cute hand prints! 👐🏻

We then read Winnie-the-Pooh and discussed the different characters. We spoke about how all friends are unique and special, whether you're confident and energetic, like Tigger, or shy and timid, like Piglet! 🐯🐷

We celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh day every year on the 18th of January to celebrate the birthday of A.A. Milne, a truly wonderful author 📚

🍂 Autumn Walks 🍂

During our daily walks to our local green spaces we have been discussing all things autumn! We've spoke about the leaves changing colours and falling off the trees, and the importance of keeping ourselves warm now the weather's getting colder! 🧣🧤

Today, we collected lots of different leaves and sorted them into colours, shapes, and sizes! We then brought them back with us and did some lovely leaf printing, and mixed together our paints to custom make some autumn colours! 🎨

This is a great exercise to show how natural resources can be used in our everyday learning, and is a great example of why outdoor learning is so important for young children's learning and development! 📚
