I am currently offering individual topic lessons sent by email. These are handy for those who want to learn Spanish but are unable to commit the time each week for a 1:1 lesson or for those that want to do extra outside of their normal lessons. Work on them in your time, request the next lesson when you’re ready to move on. Start from scratch or request specific topics if you already have some experience. Email for help when needed.

The answer to our question is.
The preterite is used when is a closed action in the past, and the imperfect is when is repeated action in the past.
There is a little trick to help you use the right one.
Ask yourself this three questions if you can answer at least one of them is preterite if not is imperfect.
When did the action happened?
For how long?
How many times did the action happened?
