🦷Children's Toothbrushing Guide🦷

Brushing children’s teeth right from the start helps develop good oral health habits from childhood to adulthood. Baby teeth aren’t just practice teeth. They help children bite and chew, support speech development, guide adult teeth into place and boost confidence when smiling. When teeth aren't cared for, it leads to tooth decay which can cause pain, infection and long-term oral health problems.

✅Please encourage families to visit the Starting Reception website which includes information about how parents can support children to be ready for starting in their Reception class in school as well as The Potty Training Guide and The Children's Toothbrushing Guide. The website is helpful for all families, not just those with children starting school in September.

✅The Starting Reception and Potty Training pages are available in multiple languages, and all of the pages have a "text to read" function so parents can listen to the information.

Over the next two weeks, families of children aged 0 - 5 are being offered ‘Little Teeth, Big Smiles’ Oral health gift packs via Rhyme Time and Toddler Time sessions in libraries.

The packs include:
🦷Toothpaste
🦷Toothbrush
🦷A Children’s rhyming book about visiting the dentist (which is also borrowable from libraries)

🌟 What a Busy and Wonderful Term! 🌟

It’s been such a busy term back at preschool, but we’ve celebrated so many lovely days together! The children have enjoyed special celebrations including Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year, learning about different traditions and cultures through hands-on experiences and meaningful discussions.

Our children have been working incredibly hard developing their scissor cutting skills ✂️ Starting with circular cutting motions, they have been mastering their fine motor skills with growing confidence.

Chinese New Year 🧧 The children explored through arts and crafts, created beautiful artwork, and immersed themselves in our role play area where they learnt about different cultures and celebrationsx

🦖 Dinosaurs have definitely been the favourite topic this term! 🦕
We’ve planned lots of exciting dinosaur-themed activities, including:
• Dinosaur footprint prints in creative play
• Maths activities focused on counting and number recognition
• Small world exploration and imaginative play

It has been a term full of learning, creativity and curiosity.

We’ve loved all the learning that’s taken place this term 🌟
The children have explored maths in many ways – from numbers to weight, sorting colours and recognising shapes. Our shop role play has been especially popular, encouraging imagination while practising early maths skills 🛒

To end the term, we enjoyed some wonderful festive activities, including making reindeer with playdough, creating snowflakes using a variety of materials, and transforming our role play area into a festive space ❄️🦌

We’re looking forward to sharing even more with our families in the New Year and would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎅✨

This term we’ve been busy learning through play 🌟
The children enjoyed plenty of construction-based messy play, encouraging creativity, problem-solving and teamwork. We also focused on emotional awareness, using the book The Colour Monsters to help children recognise and talk about their feelings by linking emotions to colours.
