Woods for Learning

At Woods for Learning its always been about inspiring young people..so proud of the Woods for Learning Teen Team who has just spent last 2 days doing Outdoor First Aid course. For many of them first time experiencing any first aid and it's a tough course! We continue to invest in the youth and it means our holiday clubs are even more safer now! Massive well done to all of youth. Giving teenagers a Well Earned positive news story!

Due to Ofsted rules just released our Woods programme will have to be changed. Children will no longer be allowed near trees as a twig may fall, they will need to have safety harnesses and a climbing helmet applied just entering the woodland. A safety rope will be tied to them which will be connected to an appropriate adult. Please note this is not our decision but when Ofsted arrive please be mindful they really do want to protect children...as long as its indoors or on grass that has safety netting round the side and no sharp objects visible..so it is a piece of grass...oh and if any mud is seen or bugs child must be removed immediately.

Great day in Woods with Tiny Toadstools - Forest School & Nature Kindergarten our first ever joint holiday club. Such a lovely atmosphere between the older ones and younger ones. What better way to celebrate pancake day.

Apple tree needed a haircut ready for winter... but why waste the cuts..the question is what pile to put them in...mini shelter building pile...or wand making pile? Who's up for new activities in 2026. Happy xmas everyone...

At Woods for Learning i continue to ensure the team, children and adults get the best. That only comes with continuous learning. So I've spent last 3 days up in Edinburgh at World Extreme Medicine conference learning from the best. Whether its improvised first aid, scenarios, hypnosis first aid, why mindset matters or listening to leadership from people like Travis Kaufman about being in the Whitehouse as a Medic or to the highly superb Adam Gent from Total first aid that made understanding high level physics stuff actually understandable and fun these little nuggets can and will be used in the delivery of what we do.
