We are privileged to serve our local community and provide education for our children from 4 to 11 years old. The Catholic life of the school and Religious Education underpin everything we do. We nurture a sense of belonging and social responsibility not only to the school and parish but also to the wider community. As Pope Francis said:

We are very excited to confirm that we have received a generous donation to help set up our Forest schools project. The money has been donated by Fairfax, ‘building Young Futures’. We will be using the funding to help establish the area for the project, for the full qualification training costs for a member of staff, and also for purchasing some key equipment. We are also very grateful to the Friends of St John’s and all parents that donated at the Christmas fair. This money combined with the Fairfax donation will allow us to create a brilliant offering to all children across the school. We look forward to updating you as the project develops.
Yesterday, Reception had a strange visitor…. They discovered some footprints in the classroom and a letter on the side – we read the letter and found that it was from the dragon🐾🐉 Thankfully, it was the nice dragon from the book “Dragon Post”. They spent the rest of the morning and afternoon writing letters back and hope to get a reply back! 🥰
We are welcoming in 2024 with our fantastic KS2 Young Interpreters who speak so many languages between them: Polish, Ukrainian, Spanish, Lugandan, Romanian, Malayalam, Tagalog, Dari, Czech, Slovak, BSL and Telugu!
Each week they help their KS1 buddies to read in English. Where possible we have matched up languages, so the Young Interpreters can translate when needed. They also help when new families with little or no English, arrive at St John’s. Our Young Interpreters can translate when showing parents around, and help new children to settle in. Their role is vital in our multicultural school. 🥰🥰
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from everyone here at St. John's Catholic Primary 🎄
Trying not to eat the sweets for the latest activity at Science Club! 🍭🍬
Reception enjoyed an airport experience with a trip to "Wild Island"!✈️
A lovely day for the children of St John’s to meet their MP and ask him questions about his job. Great to celebrate our recent OFTED success with him as well.
It was great to visit St. John's Catholic Primary and to speak with Mrs Farr, her team and the pupils. I am so pleased that the very many positive attributes of the school has been picked up by Ofsted in their recent inspection. I know how proud Mrs Farr and her team are of this recognition.

We have been notified that there is a road closure tomorrow from 9.30am to 3.00pm. Blackbridge Lane will be closed from the junction with Worthing Road to the junction with Tanbridge Place.
St John’s has been very well represented this week in the County Times newspaper. Many thanks to the families that made our international day possible and to Mrs Curtis for her tireless hard work and dedication which makes all our extra events possible.
Year 1 had some incredible visitors this week. The visit supported their learning about the Rainforest.
Today we marked our Year 6 Leavers Mass. The whole school singing and atmosphere was amazing and a brilliant way to thank God for his blessings and to reflect on Year 6’s time at St John’s. A special well done to our two Ethos award winners Beatrice and Jayden. We could not be prouder of all our Year 6 children.
Some pictures from our Year 5 trip to the Weald and Downland museum.
A video of all of the amazing participants today at the children’s parade.
A brilliant job by Year 2 and Year 4 this morning at the Horsham Children’s Parade. Thank you so much to the staff for their creative efforts. What an amazing event to be apart of.
Don’t forget our Summer fair on Saturday. All are welcome from 12.00. So many things to see and do. A great chance to spend time together and support the school in their fundraising efforts. Plus there is a rumour that there will be the chance to throw a wet sponge at the Headteacher!!!
Our children made up part of the joint Deanery choir for the Good Shepherd Service at Arundel Cathedral. It was a joyful occasion with Bishop Richard leading the service and speaking about how we are a flock and all part of God’s family. The children sang with such passion and joy. We were so very proud of them.
We are so proud of our children that made their First Holy Communion on Saturday. Congratulations to them all. We felt very blessed to be part of their special day.
Year Four had a great time exploring Amberley Museum and were treated to a high voltage electrical demonstration. We were also able to handle some old electrical appliances.
Year 1 and Reception visited St John's Catholic Church today. Father Aaron was there to explain all about the church and key items within it and give a back stage tour. The children asked a lot of really interesting questions and Father enjoyed answering them. Some children took the opportunity to say a prayer, visit the side Chapel of Our Lady, sit quietly or explore the beautiful surroundings. This all helped us with our RE learning and to remind us that we are part of a big community.
This afternoon, Reception had a very special treat …. a circus workshop!!!
Thank you very much to Nick Cook (circus entertainer/performer) who came into school to work with the children to teach them some circus skills and tricks. We all had a wonderful time!
We found out that circus skills are a fantastic form of exercise, help to calm and de-stress people, make us happy and are great for our brains!
The children had fun spinning plates, juggling balls, dancing with ribbons and poi’s, hula hooping, using the flower sticks, walking on stilts and using a diablo!
Well done to all of Reception who are now very keen to learn more circus skills!
We had a wonderful time learning about the upcoming coronation. Mrs Farr did a special assembly, we wore red, white and blue or dressed as a King or Queen. We had a delicious afternoon tea and enjoyed being together and coronation linked activities. The Friends of St John's also gifted each child with a bookmark especially made for us to mark this historic occasion. What a great day.
Art club fun!
Reception had a mystery visitor in the classroom. The visitor made quite the mess!
The fun of World Book Day. We are not sure who is having more fun, the children or the staff?
