📚🔬 STEM Days have begun at Southwater Infant Academy! 🔬📚

Today was the first of our exciting STEM Days, and our children have been busy investigating, exploring and making discoveries across the academy.

In EYFS, the children became young scientists as they investigated floating and sinking, explored what makes ice melt more quickly, tested magnetic and non-magnetic objects, and were amazed to see what happened when raisins were added to lemonade!

In Year 1, the children took part in Bog Baby's Water Experiment. They made predictions and carefully observed what happened when water was mixed with oil, flour and cornflour. There were lots of fascinating discoveries and excellent scientific thinking throughout the morning. 🧪💧

In Year 2, pupils explored whether the best-looking fruit actually tastes the best! They sampled a variety of fruits and vegetables, many were surprised to discover that purple carrots tasted just as good as, if not better than, orange ones!

Lots more experiments happening as we type! We can't wait to share more investigations and discoveries. 🌟

We're excited to announce that we're taking part in the Christmas Card Project with Class Fundraising again this year!

Your child should have brought home an order card featuring their own unique festive artwork. It's a wonderful way to celebrate their creativity whilst raising valuable funds for additional resources here at Southwater Infant Academy.

The scarecrow trail is back 🍁🍂

📣𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀📣

Get the whole family involved in this Halloween activity by making a scarecrow for this year's 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗟🍂

The theme will be ‘Children’s Book or Film Characters’.

The best scarecrow will be voted for on the trail and will win a very special prize – Winner will receive a £50 Amazon gift card.
