Did you know you can hire an instrument through WSM?

Thinking about your child starting an instrument in September? You don’t necessarily have to buy one straight away.

West Sussex Music offers instrument hire – and your child doesn’t need to be learning with a West Sussex Music teacher to use the service.

So whether they’re learning through their school, with an independent music teacher or elsewhere, instrument hire could be an affordable way to get them playing without the upfront cost of buying an instrument.

We're counting down the days until Orchestras Inc. runs again!

Orchestras Inc. is our incredible SEND ensemble and is open to children and young people with additional needs. The group is open to young people with a parent or carer for support.

No previous experience required but activities are suited to young people in key stages 2 and above (up to 25yrs).

The next Orchestras Inc. sessions will be at Horsham Music Centre – Saturdays, 12.30pm – 1.30pm at Millais School, Depot Road, Horsham RH13 5HR.

From helping young musicians access lessons and instruments to supporting inclusive ensembles and creating new opportunities for children and young people, the generosity of trusts, councils, community groups and individuals has played a vital role in West Sussex Music’s work this year.

Support has come from organisations including The Arts Society Horsham, The Arts Society Chichester, The Arts Society City of Chichester, and The Boltini Trust.

Community support has also been instrumental in helping West Sussex Music’s inclusive work continue to grow. Orchestras Inc., the charity’s inclusive SEND orchestra, has benefited from grant support from The Chalk Cliff Trust, Worthing CIL Neighbourhood Fund and Horsham District Council.

Young musicians hit all the right notes during West Sussex Music’s summer holiday programme (see what we did there?) 🎵

From forming bands and producing original tracks to taking to the stage in a live concert, young people across West Sussex have been making the most of their summer holidays thanks to an inspiring programme of music activities from West Sussex Music.

Orchestras Inc., the charity’s inclusive SEND orchestra, has benefited from grant support from The Chalk Cliff Trust, Worthing CIL Neighbourhood Fund and Horsham District Council, helping the ensemble provide welcoming and accessible music-making opportunities for children and young people up to the age of 25.

More than 270 children had the opportunity to enjoy a live classical concert before the end of term in Midhurst recently.

The children from six local schools were invited to Midhurst Rother College for a performance from Kidenza on Wednesday 15 July. Kidenza is a music charity that brings orchestral concerts for children that are packed full of fun and are never stuffy! The organisation is a partner of West Sussex Music and a member of Sussex Music Hub.

Our activities hit all the right notes during our summer holiday programme.

From forming bands and producing original tracks to taking to the stage in a live concert, young people across West Sussex made the most of the start of the summer holidays thanks to an inspiring programme of music activities.

Over the past fortnight dozens of children and young people have taken part in a range of music activities across the county during the school holidays.

They explored everything from rock and pop performance to DJing, music production and choral singing. Designed to develop musical skills while building confidence and friendships, the activities welcomed young people of all abilities in a supportive and creative environment.
