More than 300 years ago, John and Frances West left a legacy that still helps support Christ's Hospital pupils today.

💙 Old Blues in the City for St Matthew’s Day

On Friday, a group of Old Blues joined us in the City of London to celebrate one of Christ’s Hospital’s most enduring traditions.

After watching the St Matthew’s Day procession, we made our way to Ironmongers’ Hall for lunch, conversation and the chance to reconnect with fellow Old Blues.

This year’s gathering was made all the more special as we were hosted by Old Blue Matt Tilbury (BaB, MdA 80-86), currently serving as Master of the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers, and had grace said by James Preston (BaA, ColA, 73-79), recently installed as Master of the Carpenters.

A wonderful opportunity to celebrate the traditions and friendships that continue to connect Old Blues long after they leave CH. 💙

💙 A special visit to CH!

This week, we were delighted to welcome back David Baigent (ThB, 49-57), who travelled from Hamburg, Germany, to visit CH.

David was joined by his daughter Uschi, on her first visit to CH, and his grandson Yannis, who was also enjoying his very first visit to the UK.

They were accompanied by Donald Payne (Old Blue and Governor), an old friend of David’s.

It was wonderful to welcome three generations to CH and to see David sharing the School, its memories and traditions with his family. We hope you enjoyed your visit! 💙

💙 Coming together to honour the Charge

It was lovely to welcome Cat Williams (ColA, GrW 98-05), Nicola Mccabe (ColA, GrW 98-05), Lucinda Mitra nee Hutchins (ColA, GrW 98-05), James Mitra (PeA, GrW 98-05), Jonathan Howard (MaA, GrE 98-05) and Christina Asafu-Adjaye (ColA, GrW 98-05) to Christ’s Hospital recently – part of a group of Old Blues who have come together as friends to support a new student arriving in September 2027.

Inspired by their own CH experiences, the group is joining forces to honour the Charge and give back to the school that brought them together. Through regular gifts, they are working towards supporting a Donation Governorship, helping another young person experience a transformative CH education.

The year group is also looking forward to designing its own badge to mark this special commitment – more news coming soon!

Our very own Bayeux Tapestry… sort of! 🧵☺️

With the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition opening at the British Museum today, we’re taking a look at our own stitched piece of CH history – the Hertford Textile. This colourful appliquéd and stitched collage was created in 1952 at CH Hertford by Miss H W Cookson (Ward Mistress 1950-53) assisted by some of the girls in Ward 2, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of CH.

It beautifully captures life at CH, including the different uniforms worn, particularly by the girls.
