πŸ¦•πŸ¦– Dinosaur Day! πŸ¦•πŸ¦–
The children have had fun today making a dinosaur swamp, colouring in dinosaur stickers and making dinosaur fossils with clay. We also enjoyed reading a book packed full of dinosaur facts and learnt that a stegosaurus had a body as big as a bus but it's brain was the size of a table tennis ball! πŸ¦–πŸ¦•πŸ¦–πŸ¦•

We are excited to start 'Theme Days' at Amber when we learn about something in particular that the children are interested in and focus on that for the day. We have asked the children what they enjoy and to choose what they would like to learn about and we have quite a list so far! This child-led approach allows children to guide their own educational experiences and enriches their curiosity and confidence and gives an overall positive learning experience as they are learning about something that alligns with their interests and passions.

Today we started our theme days and we have been learning about steam trains! πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚

The children have enjoyed playing with different trains and building tracks and we even had a train that had its own steam! We have created paintings by driving trains through the paint and made train pictures spelling out the children's names with a letter on each carriage which provided letter recognition practice. The children also enjoyed sharing books about steam trains which told them all about different trains across the world and many other facts! πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚

Heavy or Light? Sink or Float? We had fun experimenting this morning with different objects to see if they would sink or float in the water. The children all chose an object, held it and decided if it felt heavy or light and then predicted if it would sink or float when they put it into the tub of water. They all enjoyed seeing if their predictions were correct!

A lovely couple of days at Amber! We have had lots of fun with ice and water play, being builders and building huge towers, making big train tracks, practicing our fine motor skills and being creative with firework pictures. The children were also very excited to practice for Sports Day next week! They have been practicing really hard and are looking forward to showing their families their races next week πŸ†πŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ₯³ 100 Years of David Attenborough! πŸ₯³

We have had a great day today celebrating David Attenborough's 100th Birthday!

We showed a photo of him to the children and some of the children recognised him and knew his name. We talked to them about all the amazing work he has done over many years as "the voice of the natural world" by making TV programmes to teach us all about our amazing world and what we can do to protect it and all the animals and wildlife we share it with 🌎🌎🌎

The children enjoyed going on a bug hunt to try and find everything on the list and then we were excited to find some hidden animals amongst the trees who had come to visit us! This afternoon we enjoyed sharing a questions and answers book all about animals which prompted lots of curiosity and conversation from the children 🌎 πŸ¦§πŸ¦“πŸ˜πŸ¦πŸ¦’πŸ¬πŸ¦‹πŸž 🌎

A great day!

URGENT HELP NEEDED! PLEASE SHARE!

We are in desperate need of new committee members at Amber Pre-School. If we don't find enough members then will have to close.

It will be incredibly sad to see our lovely pre-school close after over 40 years of running.

Anyone can join - the committee does not have to be made up entirely of current parents - so if anyone can help and prevent Amber from closing then please let us know. We would be very grateful!

Please message for more information about the committee roles and what they entail.

Thank you and fingers crossed we can find people to help!
