How well is your organisation progressing beyond hybrid working?

How does your organisation view flexible working? Perhaps as an HR benefit, or an integral part of your operational strategy and source of competitive advantage? Whichever perspective you choose, it is important as every different approach will shape behaviours and impact decisions.

Creating a modern workplace takes more than agreeing where people work, it needs to be focused on taking a closer look at HOW people work.

That is the key to unlocking high-performance flexibility as we continue to reimagine and navigate towards the emerging future of work.

Gwen Stirling-Wilkie, author of the recently published 'Omni-Working: work effectively in all ways, from all places' and was a speaker at our recent OD Conference 2023.

She will be joining Dr. Arlene Egan, CEO of Roffey Park Institute, for our next complimentary Navigator Event to explore this important topic. She'll share insights for those of you who are responsible for setting your flexible working strategy, tips for those of you who are trying to make the strategy work in practice with your teams, and suggestions for those of you who are supporting leaders in either of these.

Register now for Roffey Park Institute’s next Navigator event ‘Creating High-Performance Flexibility in a Modern Workplace’ on 26 January, 9-10 am. https://bit.ly/4amJVwU

📅 one week to go until our FREE Navigator Forum 28 November 2023 9:00 – 10:00 (UK Time) – Unsticking your Organisation Design Project

Often described as the most painful side of organisation change, organisation design projects usually have roots in merger and acquisition, a desire to improve organisational performance, a change in regulation or perhaps a realisation that ‘the way we do things around here’ isn’t fit for the future.

It’s common to see leaders reach for the organisation charts in an attempt to move boxes and lines, but this isn’t the best place to start. Without a deep appreciation of organisational context, how this particular business, public service or not-for-profit creates value for its customers or service users, attempts to improve things can lead to misunderstanding, frustration and lots of wasted time and cost.

Keen to know more? In this complimentary webinar Roffey Park Institute will be busting the myths around organisational design, helping you to have better conversations around whether organisation design is the solution for improving and sustaining the health of your organisation and its people.
Stop! What can be done to untangle the mess?

During this one hour interactive webinar, with Emma Du Parcq with guest Peter Turgoose, you can expect to gain:

• Deeper understanding of why your organisation is struggling to make progress
• Assess what elements may be missing or ineffective
• Tips to help break down the barriers to your organisation becoming more healthy and sustainable.

This valuable chance to upskill and network is for anyone involved in the organisation design process, including leaders, HR, consultants and change managers.

🐟 Trust in groups is like water is for fish – you do not notice it until it has gone. It is built incrementally through the daily interactions of sharing, valuing and reciprocating vulnerability.

🧍 🧍 As leaders and colleagues, the decisions we make around how we connect with and relate to others offer the opportunity to build (or diminish) the trust that surrounds us.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 How do you build trust in the workplace? Leave your thoughts below ⤵️

🌹 The origins of Roffey Park were founded in wartime Britain when the well-being of some individuals was being adversely affected by long working hours combined with the anxieties created by frequent bombing raids, rationing and family members fighting in the armed forces. Roffey Park Remembers today marks the day when the guns on the Western Front fell silent as the German leaders signed an Armistice at 11am on November 11, 1918.

📅 Just one week to go until our FREE Navigator Forum 31 October 2023 9:00 – 10:30 (UK Time) – Culture change and transformation.

❓ Those of us involved in organisational change and development talk a lot about culture but do we spend enough time thinking about what that means? All organisations have a culture that we experience every day when we are at work, sometimes we are aware of it and sometimes not. However, it seems clear that workplace culture plays a vital role in the overall performance and satisfaction of employees in an organisation. Is it possible to transform organisational culture to support health and sustainability and therefore improve performance?

🧑 Facilitated by Roffey Park’s Dr Graham Curtis this session joined by Esther Stevenson will look at what we can do to intervene in organisations to develop health, sustainability, productivity and growth. We will consider dialogic and diagnostic perspectives on change and how consultants can intervene in the process.

This session will provoke thinking and explore key concepts on what culture is, how culture change occurs and how OD can support these changes.

To be agile, in any sense, is to be able to move quickly and easily and adapt to a current situation. In organisational terms, it is about responding to a complex, uncertain and ever-changing business environment. Generally people are not resistant to change and can see the need to improve things. But they do resist badly thought-out change, change which they don’t feel will ease the problems they face or change they don’t understand.

One of the things that leaders of organisations can do if they are trying to increase organisational agility is to be clear and have a shared understanding of what agility means in their context – what change will we see from being more agile? What benefits is it going to bring?

Learn more about how to understand organisational agility and the important agile conditions for success in your organisation.
