I am a qualified maths teacher with qualified teacher status (QTS) and began teaching in 2013. I was rated as an 'outstanding' teacher when I was full time teaching secondary maths and gained a distinction in both my Mathematics PGCE and my Masters in Transformational Leadership. I like to focus on building students' confidence as well as my relationship with them. I promote working at their own pace and tailoring lessons to their individual needs. I tutor maths lessons in person as well as online and love seeing my students progress and thrive. I also tutor for 11+ exams with a particular focus on maths and have completed a Level 2 PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) autism training. If you'd like to enquire about maths tutoring and my availability, just drop me a message anytime. My background...
I studied Law & Accounting at University of Leeds and gained a 1st after 4 years of studying. I then wanted to go and really make a difference so I joined Teach First's Leadership Programme (which focusses on supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds and takes on graduates from 'red brick' Universities) where I full time taught secondary maths to my own classes from day 1. I also completed my Masters when teaching in Transformational Leadership where my dissertation focussed on improving parents evenings for primary schools. After teaching I wanted to gain some business experience so I worked in account management and staff training for a few years building relationships with clients such as schools and Universities. I have always tutored maths on the side but since 2021 I have adored being able to have the opportunity to tutor full time and develop strong relationships with my students again. I teach primary-GCSE maths and happy to recommend other trusted tutors for A-Level. I love tutoring all types of students and have worked a lot with SEND students as well as students with anxiety and enjoy building their confidence, working at their pace and supporting them as best as I can; I would pride myself in being kind-natured and patient, especially with my vulnerable students. I also work with a lovely local company Elite Tutors Sussex that matches tutors in all subjects and ages with families so if you would like tutoring in other subject areas then I'd be happy to match you with a tutor who's right for you- just drop me a message. About me...
I grew up in Brighton and attended both private and state schools there. I then moved to Leeds to study at University and met my husband there. We got married in 2016 and renovated our first house in 2017 in South London before moving to the West Sussex countryside a couple of years later to work on another house renovation and enjoy the quieter life! We have a gorgeous young son together called Oscar who's at the centre of our lives and a lovely fluffy cat called Aslan (he's hypoallergenic and more like a dog sometimes!). I love gardening, crafting and dancing; I have danced modern jive, west coast swing and salsa since I was 15. I love being outdoors (I try to teach in the garden in summertime!) and travelling, exploring new cultures and always learning new things. DBS and Safeguarding Level 2 training up to date.
