Hey everyone 🤍 I wanted to share a little update on all things me and MiniPlay.
Back in December, so many of you encouraged me to take a break, some of you who’ve been with me right from the start, and it was exactly what I needed to hear. Being self employed comes with a lot of guilt, and I’d been running at 100mph for others while quietly forgetting myself.
Now that we’re through January, I’m so grateful I paused. Winter, the weather, and the physical reality of setting up and packing away solo would have been too much. For nearly two years, my body has been through so much, and instead of fighting it, I’m learning to accept it and understand my new normal. After cancer treatment in many ways can be worse than treatment itself. I'm currently on two forms of tablets a day, a three monthly injection in my belly and a new six month infusion. All of which feels so unnatural. My body wasn't designed to be put into early menopause and it certainly wasn't expecting my levels of oestrogen to deplete so quickly. This leaves me with daily fatigue and SO much confusion as to whether any of this is actually worth it. Having to put your quality of life second is not a choice I take easily. I needed a brain break. To think, to research and make decisions and advocate for myself. From the outside I might look like I’m doing great and I am for the most part. My hair, feels like a promise...things will get better, but there’s also a lot happening behind the scenes that requires care and balance.
Right now, my focus is my family. They’re seeing a calmer, happier version of me, and that feels really special. We’re also preparing for a house move after 13 years of being in the same place, so life feels full in a very different way. Everyday, I'm organising, sorting, and going to the skip so that a move won't feel so stressful when it's time to leave.
MiniPlay is never an afterthought. I still believe wholeheartedly in play, I miss our lovely community, and I’ve held onto all my resources. Looking ahead, I hope to return to sessions in a way that works for you and for me, alongside tutoring, which I absolutely love, and I'm exploring some new hobbies from home, including digital products.
For now, I’m busy but not 'working.' The social media pause has been so good for my soul. Thank you for your continued kindness, support, and patience.
I would love to return with Friday sessions again come Spring. I'll start sharing how that will look soon on my stories in a few weeks. I've met parents from classes which is just so lovely and I had a real insight to what they miss the most. It's been invaluable to hear this first hand and realise my first vision for MiniPlay was the part they missed the most.
MiniPlay isn’t gone, it’s just resting 🤍
Watch this space.
Happy Friday
Much love
