We know there's no better way to bring a family together than food! Our annual food festival was held after school which brought together parents, children and members of our local community. It showed that although we may have different beliefs and ideas, our love of food is something that we all share.
During the food festival, we created a whole school map showing all the places in the world that are important to our school community. It showed where people have lived, or somewhere that is special for any reason. As they say, the family that eats together, stays together – and as we all know, we are quite a family at Horley Infant School!

Family Day was our chance to celebrate our families and what makes them unique. We had two identical outdoor assemblies which involved sharing songs, paintings and poems linked to family members and narrating one of our favourite family books called "The Family Book" by Tod Parr.
We don't hold specific Mother's Day / Father's Day /Grandparent's day celebrations as we appreciate that our families come in different shapes and sizes so instead hold a Family Day.

“The Boxall Profile is absolutely the gold in it all.” — Horley Infant School ⭐️
Our Surrey Nurturing Schools Programme in partnership with Schools Alliance for Excellence reached 100 schools in Surrey 📍 The programme included access to the Boxall Profile®, networking sessions, and training on nurture groups and whole-school nurture.
The training was described as engaging, practical and transformative.
💫 100% were satisfied with the Boxall Profile®
💫 94% were satisfied with the training
💫 94% said content met school needs
And as a result, schools found a rise in attendance, a greater understanding of SEMH needs, improved wellbeing and retention, and stronger relationships with parents.
💬 “Staff understand the why behind why pupils behave in a certain way, which gives them the confidence and understanding to adapt their approaches.”
Great work to all our Surrey schools 👏

We’re proud to be part of a major milestone for the Surrey Nurturing Schools Programme, delivered in partnership with Schools Alliance for Excellence, which is now reaching 100 schools across Surrey (including all Greensand schools).
The programme provides schools with access to the Boxall Profile®, networking opportunities, and training on nurture groups and whole-school nurture approaches.
Built around the Six Principles of Nurture, the programme supports a relational approach to learning — helping every child and young person feel safe, supported, and understood, including our most vulnerable pupils and those with SEND.
The nurture programme has fitted perfectly within our school’s vision of “Growing an outstanding learning community where we embrace and nurture the individual.”

Over the last few weeks, the reception children have been planting seeds, giving them the chance to learn first-hand how plants grow. We supported their learning by encouraging them to observe the changes in nature around them - especially at this time of year when so much is happening!
The children were then delighted to invite their parents and carers to a plant sale today. Children practiced mathematical skills and entrepreneurial thinking as the parents had the opportunity to purchase the sunflower seedling that their child had planted. They then enjoyed a drink and biscuit whilst reading stories in the outdoor classroom.
All funds raised is going towards new resources for the reception classrooms.

Today wasn’t just any ordinary day for Year 2 … it was a mission. 💥
Our young recruits arrived ready to test their limits — and they did not disappoint. From high-energy obstacle courses that pushed their physical strength, to brain-teasing puzzles that challenged their focus and creativity, every moment was a step toward something greater. 🧠💪
But the real magic? It happened when they came together. Through teamwork challenges, they learned to trust, support, and lift each other up — because every great hero knows you’re stronger as a team. 🤝
By the end of the day, they didn’t just complete the training… they earned their place at Superhero University
🎓 Congratulations to our newest graduates of Superhero University — officially Heroes in Training!

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers for helping make the Easter Egg Hunt so special. 💛🍫
