Dingbats Improv was set up in 2014 to teach people in Sussex and Surrey the art of making stuff theatre together on the spot. We currently run improvisational theatre and comedy classes in person and online, put on shows in the local area and plan group trips to go and see improv further afield.

Performing improv has two parts: the improv and the performing.

You might know your Yes, And, Game of the Scene and endowments, but what about the acting?

ACTING FOR IMPROV is a 7-week course focused entirely on making your improv more engaging, better staged and more theatrical.

We’ll play with:
- Projection and vocal clarity
- Using the space
- Readable emotions
- Fully committing to a scene
- Making intentional choices
- Working with scripts

Expect something a little different from a usual improv course. Some weeks we’ll use scripts, much of it won’t be improv, and comedy won’t always be the focus.

Our next course is a Horror Improv Mini Course taught by the Demon Butcher himself (George) for experienced improvisers! Tickets go live at 7pm tomorrow (17th)...

WHAT.
The autumn months are approaching, and the nights are drawing longer. This time, take a deliberate turn into the weird with creepy characters, twisted stories, eerie games and plenty of opportunities to make an audience scream with laughter, fear, or both!

In this 4 week advanced course, we will be exploring if it is even possible to have a genuinely scary improv horror experience. (At least one of the weeks will involve some discussion and debate on this fact).

Learn how to build suspense and create genuinely unsettling moments, and then take the plunge and put it all to the test in a special Halloween showcase.

Sign up for a terrifying and terrific improv experience... if you dare!

WHEN.
The class will run on four Tuesdays 8pm-10pm from 29th September to 20th October with a spooky showcase on 23rd October 2026.

WHERE.
The classes will be at Crawley United Reform Church Hall.
