The Gingerbread House Nursery

Happy Wednesday, everyone! ☀️😄 This morning, we surprised our parents with a grab-and-go breakfast to kick off their Wednesday in a positive way. It was delightful to see smiles all around!

Exploring Animal Habitats 🦁🦍🦧
Today, the children in the Butterflies class had the chance to turn their understanding of animal habitats into creative projects. They selected animals from wallpaper, cut them out, and glued them onto cards. Afterwards, they enriched their creations with drawings depicting either a forest or jungle setting. For those children who aren’t yet able to use scissors, they had the option to rip their chosen pictures, or the staff assisted them with hand-over-hand guidance.

💦☀️Splashing in the Sun☀️💦
The Ladybirds have had a blast splashing out in the sun with the splash pad these past couple of days! They have loved engaging in the water play, pointing to the different letters and animals that they could see as they splashed around!

The biggest of thank yous to the lovely parents who kindly gifted the splash pad to us, the children are enjoying it immensely!

This week in preschool, our focus is on the letter U. The children have had the opportunity to express their own interpretations using a variety of writing materials and resources, including pens, chalk, paint, and drawing pads!

We will also explore words that begin with the letter U and search for items in our environment that either start with or contain that letter.

We will also use pre-made stencils where children can use them to create the letter using water on the pavement and paint!

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
Making lemonade is an excellent way to incorporate mathematics into a summer's day without the children even noticing. Today at Butterflies, the children had the opportunity to count, discuss halves, and measure— all essential mathematical skills for early years. They also gained valuable practical skills, such as pouring lemonade into cups using a ladle and cutting lemons, cucumbers, and herbs. Additionally, it was a delightful sensory experience, with the scents of lemon and mint lingering in the air throughout the afternoon.

Expressions of Gratitude for Our Friends

All the children in the room eagerly decided to make cards for their friends. Each child selected a peer for whom they wanted to create a card, and then they adorned it with decorations, bubbling with excitement to share their masterpieces.

The children thoroughly enjoyed crafting their cards, and there were smiles all around as a result of these thoughtful gestures.

What a fantastic trip it was, brimming with adventures! We boarded the bus, greeted the driver, and off we went. At the library, before story time, the children had the opportunity to explore their surroundings. They eagerly reached for books that piqued their interest, selecting titles about the moon, dinosaurs, and popular stories like Paw Patrol, as well as Marvel comic books. They also enjoyed playing games and examining various charts on mathematics and anatomy. As story time began, the children received clue cards to help them guess the story's theme. They eagerly shouted out words like "beach," "sand," and "sandcastle." The story revolved around the various choices we can make at the beach, such as swimming, building sandcastles, or simply relaxing. Following the story, there was a craft activity where the children could create their own beach scenes. On our way back, we stopped by the train station to watch the trains leave the platform. We discussed with the children where to buy tickets and the potential destinations we could visit, prompting enthusiastic shouts of "holidays!" from the group. We would like to repeat our trip to the library few more times in the next term to seed the love for books in children's hearts.
