🌟 Wednesday Win 🌟

This lovely review really made us smile. 🤍

Our client shared that being untidy is something they have struggled with all their life and that they felt really nervous and ashamed when Becky first came to help.

I think this is something so many people can relate to. There can be so much shame around struggling with your home, but there really is no judgement at A Tidy Mind Yorkshire.

Becky has supported them with kindness, understanding and lots of practical suggestions and the bit that really made us smile was this:

“For the first time in years I feel hopeful that I can live in a tidy home.”

Hopeful. 💚

That's what it's all about for us.

Not having a perfect home.

Not having every cupboard beautifully organised.

Not suddenly becoming a naturally tidy person!

It's about making your home work better for you, feeling less overwhelmed and knowing that things can change.

Sometimes you just need someone alongside you to help you work out where to start, without judgement and without making you feel bad about where you are now.

A huge thank you to our client for taking the time to write such a lovely review, and a big well done to our superstar Becky. 🌟

No judgement. Just kindness, practical help and a little bit of hope.

🥵 IT’S TOO HOT TO DECLUTTER!

So don’t. 😂

I’ve had three people contact me in the last 24 hours in tears, feeling completely overwhelmed because they’ve tried to take on big organising projects in this heat.

So I’m sharing what I said to them:

“STOP. Slow everything down”.

Heatwaves are not for emptying wardrobes onto the bed, pulling everything out of cupboards, or starting “life reset” projects because you’re off work.

Instead, think of this as a maintenance time, not a transformation time.

Focus on the little wins 💫

☀️ Recycling incoming post
☀️ Emptying suitcases after holidays & putting them back where they live
☀️ Clearing the kitchen island of the end of school stuff - sentimental / recycle / bin
☀️ Unsubscribing from emails you don’t want to receive as soon as they come in
☀️ Cancelling Amazon subscriptions for items you have a draw full of & no longer use
☀️ Cancelling Gym memberships you joined in January & well …
☀️ Binning all the free stuff from your holiday

That is enough. Honestly.

A good rule in a heatwave is simple:

👉 More leaves your home than comes in each day

That’s it.

That’s the win.

Not empty wardrobes.

Not “I’ll just sort the whole house while it’s sunny and I’m on holiday from work”

And definitely not ringing me in tears because you’ve tipped your entire life onto the bedroom floor - please let’s not do that 💚

This is your reminder that:
✨ Small is powerful
✨ Maintenance is productive
✨ Rest is part of organisation

So if you’re feeling the urge to “do a big clear out” pause.
Pick a drawer instead. Or a handbag. Or just your keys and receipts.

And then go and sit in a shady spot☀️

Let's be honest… most of us don't keep our old photographs neatly organised in beautiful albums. They're usually hiding in shoeboxes, stuffed in drawers, tucked away in the loft or lurking in cupboards, quietly multiplying when we're not looking!

The funny thing is, these photos hold some of our happiest memories, yet we rarely get to enjoy them because they're buried under years of life. Instead, they become one of those jobs we keep meaning to do "one day".

The good news is that sorting through your photographs doesn't mean throwing your memories away. It's simply about making it easier to find, enjoy and celebrate the moments that really matter. And no, you don't have to keep six blurry versions of the same family barbecue just because they've been in the box since 1998!

So, pop the kettle on, start with one small pile, and let's make those precious memories a joy to look through again instead of another task on the to-do list.

Have you ever spent 10 minutes looking for something you only had in your hand yesterday?

Your keys. Your glasses. That important letter. The charger you know was there.

Living with clutter isn’t just about having too much stuff. It’s exhausting. It creates extra jobs, extra stress and extra frustration in an already busy day.

And in this heat, who wants to be rummaging through piles of paperwork, overflowing cupboards or cluttered worktops just to find what they need?

Imagine instead knowing where things are. Opening a cupboard and finding what you’re looking for. Getting out of the door without a last-minute panic. Having a home that feels calmer, lighter and easier to manage.

Decluttering isn’t about perfection. It’s about making everyday life simpler.

If your home is making life harder than it needs to be, the team at A Tidy Mind Yorkshire would love to help, compassionately at your pace and without judgement 💚

Living with ADHD can get a bit messy.

You start off putting washing away and somehow end up rearranging a kitchen cupboard, finding a half-finished craft project and wondering why you've got six pairs of scissors but can't find one single pair when you actually need them.

If your house always feels like it's in a state of chaos, it might not be that you're bad at organising - you might just have too much stuff.

Between impulse buys, trying out new hobbies, and keeping things because they might come in handy one day, it's easy for things to build up without you even noticing.

Regular decluttering makes a huge difference.

The less you have to manage, the easier it is to keep on top of things.

✨ Have a look through your wardrobe and keep the clothes you actually wear and feel-good in. The ones that have been hanging there untouched for years could go to a charity shop and do some good elsewhere.

✨ The same goes for technology. Sell old devices before they lose their value, and be honest with yourself about those random cables you've been keeping "just in case". If you've no idea what they belong to, it's probably time to let them go.

✨ If you've bought something on a whim and it's been sat gathering dust ever since, sell it, donate it or pass it on to someone who'll get some use out of it.

✨ Try to give everything in your home a proper place. If you can't find a home for something, ask yourself whether you really need to keep it.

✨ And don't feel like you have to tackle everything at once. A quick declutter every month is far less overwhelming than waiting until it all gets too much. Put the kettle on, stick a podcast on, and chip away bit by bit.

You’ll get there! If you feel support would help, virtual or in-person, I’d love to offer you a free discovery call.

There’s something stopping you from decluttering.

And it’s probably not what you think.

It’s not because you’re lazy.
It’s not because you lack motivation.
And it’s not because you’re bad at being organised.

More often than not, the clutter isn’t the problem.

The shame, guilt and overwhelm that come with the clutter are.

I work with so many people who have bought the storage boxes, followed the decluttering accounts and tried every organising system going, yet they still feel stuck.

Not because they’re doing anything wrong.

But because they’re trying to organise their way out of something that needs understanding and compassion first.

This is especially true for many people with ADHD, where clutter is often linked to overwhelm, decision fatigue, executive functioning challenges and years of feeling judged for struggling.

At A Tidy Mind Yorkshire, there’s no judgement, no pressure and no one-size-fits-all approach.

We meet you where you are.

You stay in control, we work at your pace, and together we’ll create practical systems that work for you and your lifestyle.

We’ve been helping people across Yorkshire for 7 years and we’re fully insured, experienced and passionate about helping people feel calmer and more at ease in their homes.

If this resonates with you, save this post as a reminder that you don’t have to tackle it all on your own. 💚
