🪙⛰ There's a world full of opportunity out there...

And LWC's Sixth Formers have been developing their independence, resilience, leadership and teamwork to embrace it.

Congratulations to all of those who've just completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award Qualifying Expedition in Wales, where they camped and navigated their way through unfamiliar territory, building bonds and confidence along the way.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award was created in 1956 and has been encouraging young people to step out of their comfort zones ever since.

That's 70 years well spent.

World Cup Final Day may not involve England (this time)... ⚽

But it's worth taking a moment to celebrate sport and all of its dizzying highs, heart-stopping lows, minibus karaoke rides and saved places at the sidelines.

It sometimes feels uncomfortable, but it's all part of the journey.

"Creativity is a wild mind and a disciplined eye" (Dorothy Parker)

Both will have a new home from September at LWC.

The Grove will house the College's Creative Arts in a bespoke hub for Art, Design, Textiles, Ceramics, Computer Science, Film and Media.

"This recognises an increasingly important truth," reflects LWC Head, Adam Williams. "Creativity is not an optional extra in the modern world, but one of its most valuable currencies.”

All wild minds and disciplined eyes welcome. 🤯👁️

We can't stop thinking about Private Peaceful 🤔

LWC's production of the Michael Morpurgo masterpiece blew audiences away.

In the space of one night, they were swept between the pre-war rural idyll of the Devon countryside and the brutal battlefields of Belgium.

A poignant story, magically brought to life by some extraordinary acting.

This summer is soaring at LWC 🚁

A few neighbours dropped in to see our CCF RAF cadets during their six-day summer camp last week.

A Chinook from RAF Odiham (home of the Chinook Force) and based just three miles away, landed on Harold's Field to give the cadets a taste of life on board one of the largest helicopters in the world.

Chinooks can carry up to 55 fully equipped troops (but have been known to take as many as 80 in emergencies).

Maybe some of our own will be crewing a future fleet.

🏃‍♀️ Phoebe update! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Exactly three weeks after she set off from John o' Groats, LWC Sixth Former, Phoebe, is now a week away from the English/Scottish border.

Phoebe's bidding to become the youngest woman to run the length of Britain and for all the reasons you'll see in this 60-second update, that's pretty inspirational.

Go Phoebe! We couldn't be prouder.

Great things happened in 1966... 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This week has seen many comparisons drawn with what happened 60 years ago, when everything changed...

Not only was LWC's Gavin Hall completed, but so too were the boarding houses that would go on to become Hazelveare and Summerfield (complete with their abundant apple trees, which continue to flourish).

Other than that, it was fairly quiet. ⚽😉

We’re deeply proud of our Hampshire roots.

Which is why we’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Independent Schools of the Year Award for Regional Independent School of the Year: South.

Upper Sixth Former, Thomas, has also been nominated for the Rising Star of the Year Award, in recognition of his solar cooker invention, capable of saving millions of lives from waterborne diseases.

And great things come in threes. St Neot's Preparatory School, part of the Lord Wandsworth Family of Schools, has been shortlisted for the Independent Pre-Prep of the Year Award.

🌈🏳️‍🌈 Running through rainbows 🏳️‍🌈🌈

This year's Colour Run, organised by LWC's Prefect Team, was a psychedelic spectacle designed to bring the College together.

Held to coincide with Pride Month, promoting diversity and inclusion, it was also a brilliant way to round off another year.

Well done to our 30-strong Prefect Team for organising...and to the runners who are still finding luminescence behind their ears. 🏳‍🌈
