Welcome back to Honley!

We hope you've all had a wonderful summer and are ready for an exciting new term ahead.

Start of term dates:
Wednesday 2 September 2026 – Year 7, Year 11
Thursday 3 September 2026 – Year 8, Year 9, Year 10

A particularly warm welcome to our new Year 7 students joining us for the first time. We’re so pleased to have you as part of our school community.

Before term begins, please do check that uniforms are sorted and everyone feels ready for the year ahead.

On the day, school is open from 8am, with breakfast available in the dining hall and the Library open as usual. School starts at 8.35am promptly, so students should be in their form rooms or the assembly hall by then.

Attending from day one really matters - it helps children settle back into their routines, reconnect with friends, and make the most of everything the year ahead has to offer. If anything might affect your child's return to school, please let us know via our attendance support form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/vJ52tH9naU

For some helpful tips on preparing for the new term, the Department for Education's Back-to-School Reset Guide is well worth a look:https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6a856b28c9205b515d421e7d/The_back-to-school_reset_guide.pdf

We look forward to welcoming you all back soon.

We have loved celebrating with our Year 11 students and their families as they collected a phenomenal set of GCSE results ✨

The Class of 2026 has embraced every opportunity, risen to every challenge and achieved some outstanding outcomes. 70% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths, a significant increase on last year and around 20% above national averages. Science outcomes were equally impressive, with 70.7% of students achieving Grade 5 or above in two or more Science GCSEs, up from 63.1% last year.

We are also delighted that our Attainment 8 score has increased again, reflecting strong achievement across the full range of subjects taken by our students. Particularly pleasing is the breadth of success across the curriculum, with students performing significantly above national averages in the majority of subjects.

Congratulations to every member of the Class of 2026. We could not be prouder of all that you have achieved, and we look forward to seeing where your next steps take you.

Today, members of the Honley High School community are honoured to be joining Emma’s family as they celebrate her life.

Emma was a much-loved member of our school family, and her kindness, warmth and care touched the lives of so many students, colleagues and families. She is greatly missed, and our thoughts continue to be with those who loved her most.

Many people have asked if there is a way to support Emma’s family. With their blessing, we have created this JustGiving page, with all donations going directly to Emma’s sister to support Emma’s children.

If you would like to contribute, no matter how big or small, your kindness will mean a great deal to the family.

Thank you for continuing to keep Emma’s family in your thoughts and for the incredible support our community has shown.

Iʼm raising money to Support Emma Roberts’ Family. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Our Year 7 students recently took part in an insightful and engaging presentation exploring the Rule of Law, giving them an early introduction to how laws are created, upheld and debated within society. The session encouraged students to think about fairness, responsibility and the role citizens play in shaping the rules that govern everyday life.

Thank you to the University of York for delivering this valuable session and supporting our students in developing their citizenship skills and awareness of real‑world policy issues.
