S U B J E C T S P O T L I G H T: Geography in the archives!

Our A Level geographers recently took a deep dive into Northern Ireland’s history at the Public Records Office (PRONI) in the Titanic Quarter!

From analysing maps and migration data to exploring church records on microfilm and digging through old school records in the Reading Room, the group got a fascinating hands-on look at how local and social history is preserved.

🎾T E N N I S C H A M P S 🎾 A huge congratulations to Sam and Charlie who won the Four Nations title with Ireland at the weekend! The boys were selected as the U14 pair, ranked #1 and #2 in the National Rankings, having had outstanding individual success throughout the season!
This is the first success for Ireland in the Four Nations for over 12 years and both boys played a hugely important part in the competition v England, Wales and Scotland.
Well done boys, we’re very proud of your achievements and how you represent yourselves, whilst combining your sport with your studies!

Our students have kicked off the year diving straight into practical Biology:
Year 9: Testing leaves for starch to see photosynthesis in action.
Year 10: Getting creative with DNA—building sweet models to master the building blocks of life!
Years 11 & 12: Exploring the microscopic world, studying cell structures and osmosis. 🔬

Great curiosity and fantastic hands-on discovery across all year groups!

S U B J E C T S P O T L I G H T: ART & DESIGN

From Year 8s mastering line work to Year 9s sculpting 3D clay corals, our pupils have been diving headfirst into creativity. Year 10 is knee-deep in dynamic design projects, while Year 11 got an incredible masterclass in art history straight from London’s world-famous Courtauld Gallery!

Safe to say, the only thing the Sullivan Art Department hasn’t drawn lately is a breath.

We pride ourselves on versatility, giving every student the space to find their own unique creative voice. Talent comes in so many forms, and we love celebrating every single one of them.

🏏 C R I C K E T H O N O U R S ☘️ Lucy Andrews (Year 14) was selected for Ireland Women U19s on their English tour last week. The week started with matches against Yorkshire and then onto the UK School Games at Loughborough University where Ireland finished second behind a strong England team following wins over Scotland. This capped a very successful sporting summer for Lucy after her impressive displays for Ulster Hockey and Northern Cricket Union !

A T H L E T I C S Congratulations to Roger McMullan (Year 14) who represented Northern Ireland in the long jump at the School Games National Finals ! Roger jumped a massive 6.95m PB in his very first jump of the competition but a knee injury prevented him from any more jumps. Despite this setback he finished in second place! 🥈

Lights, camera, action!

Our Year 12 Moving Image Arts class kicked off the new term by getting hands-on with the cameras and exploring how lighting can be used to create atmosphere, mood and depth in their work.

And despite what the photos might suggest… we promise they really are a very friendly and non-violent bunch!

It’s fantastic to see such creativity, enthusiasm and talent coming through the department. We can’t wait to see what these budding filmmakers produce next!

A huge congratulations to Nora Sugar and Erin Farrell, who were selected to represent Northern Ireland at the Inter-Regional Tumbling Final 2026 in Birmingham this July!

We are incredibly proud to see our pupils achieving such fantastic success both inside and outside the classroom. Their hard work, dedication and commitment are truly inspiring. Well done,girls!
