We were at Family Arts Campaign Leadership symposium this week with Lawrence Batley Theatre . Excited about how much it helped us focus on the strategic implications of developing a youth led model for a childrens arts festival in Kirklees Our Biennale.
Currently we are doing lots of consultation with children and families.
Next week we are asking teachers how a childrens arts festival could support creativity in their schools.
If you are a teacher and want to join in get in touch!

So cool to be sharing a space with Thread Republic in the Packhorse Shopping Centre. Check out what's on this week!

So grateful to our Board of Trustees who are so supportive and committed to continuing fantastic and accessible offers for children and young people 🥰
Its becoming increasingly difficult to deliver free, participatory creative activities on the high street as community space with high social impact is pushed out for commercial gain.
We aren't sure what the future looks for our MakerWorld and MakerWorld Dewsbury offers but we plan to keep on going on!

We’re delighted that we’ve been awarded a Seasons of Culture grant to bring Treeline: Roots & Branches to Huddersfield, in association with Our Biennale

Over the next three months starting this Saturday 5 September our young people and families will explore trees and through making, sound and installation, we’ll create a special Huddersfield response to Treeline, composer Graham Fitkin’s internationally recognised project connecting communities, trees and forests across Europe.

We’ll be running free creative sessions at MakerWorld in Huddersfield’s Packhorse Centre at Little Makers for pre-schoolers on Fridays 10am-12noon, Saturday MakerWorld sessions 11am-3pm as well as sessions with mainstream and SEND schools.

The project will finish with a spectacular public finale in Huddersfield town centre on Friday 21 November, alongside a special concert contribution from Graham Fitkin.
