⭐️HHS Open Evening 2026⭐️

It was wonderful to welcome all our prospective pupils and their families this evening as our Year 6 visitors had the opportunity to look around our school and discover everything we have to offer.

From Science, Languages, Music and Drama to Maths and English, our visitors experienced the exciting range of subjects and opportunities available to our pupils 🔬🇫🇷🎭🎵

We pride ourselves on creating a school where every pupil feels safe, happy and supported, while striving for academic achievement and offering a rich programme of cultural, creative and extracurricular activities that inspire pupils beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful pupil helpers who represented the school with enthusiasm, confidence, kindness and pride. You were fantastic 👏

We hope all who attended had a great evening with us and got a real sense of what makes our school so special.

❤️A day to remember ❤️

Today our whole school community came together for our sponsored walk, raising money for two incredibly meaningful causes- Cancer Research UK and The School Bursary Fund. Both charities were chosen by Miss DJ, causes close to her heart and a teacher who continues to inspire us every day with her passion, enthusiasm, strength and positivity . 1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime but with continued funding and research we hope life saving treatments can be found. The School Bursary supports pupils from all backgrounds making life changing opportunities accessible to everyone.

Around 100 pupils took on the additional challenge of running the 5K route with some fantastic performances along the way. Huge congratulations to Harry N winner of the boys’ race, finishing with a time of 18.15 followed closely by Freddie, Rocco, Harvey and George. Winning the girls race was Freya with an equally brilliant time of 18.47 followed by Nola, Eva, Scarlett and Olivia. 👏👏👏

And for everyone else there were smiles, laughter, encouragement and plenty of good spirits as we walked the 5K together.

Today was so much more than completing a route. It was about community, courage, kindness and coming together for something bigger than ourselves. Every step taken, every pound raised, every word of encouragement was a contribution towards two causes that make a life changing difference.

This is what happens when a community stands together. A truly special day. Miss DJ gave us the reason and motivation and the pupils and staff gave it their hearts. Well done HHS ❤️

💙One school, two special causes, one special day 💙
The recce is complete ahead of tomorrow’s whole school sponsored walk/run- and as you can see the route is already getting rather muddy! 🥾

So a little reminder old footwear is definitely recommended.

Tomorrow isn’t just about the miles we walk or run, it’s about coming together as a school community, supporting one another and raising money for two special causes that are especially close to our hearts- Cancer Research UK and the School Bursary Fund as chosen by our very own Miss DJ.

We are incredibly proud to be taking on this challenge together and we hope tomorrow will be filled with laughter, memories, muddy shoes and school spirit.

A huge well done to our Year 11 pupils on their exam results! We are incredibly proud of the hard work, determination and resilience you have shown throughout your time with us.
Today is a moment to celebrate everything you have achieved. We hope you are as proud of your results as we are, an important step in your journey but also a number does not define who you are and there are many more experiences, opportunities and adventures still ahead of you .
Whatever path you choose next we hope you take the confidence, friendships, memories and lessons from your time at Holmfirth High School with you.

Well that’s a wrap! An amazing final 2 days at Kruger National Park where we were lucky enough to see the Big 5 with the help of our amazing safari guides! 🎉To watch a pride of lions settle down in front of us with no other vehicles around was incredible 🦁 Afrer a long journey home via Istanbul we said farewell to Mike, our World Challenge Leader on arrival at Manchester airport. A life changing experience for all!

A quick supermarket shop and trip to a local market before our final night in Eswatini 🇸🇿 spent at Hawane Lodge. Pupils shared the restaurant kitchen and were given a much needed lesson on how to chop onions! 🧅 We introduced the lovely ladies to a cup of Yorkshire Tea! A time to reflect on our time spent in Eswatini, such a beautiful country with such friendly people. On to Kruger National Park for some r&r!

A challenging 4 day trek along the Ngwempisi River & Ridge. Hard climbs and downhills but the amazing views were worth it! A night spent at Rock Lodge with the most amazing bathroom view ever- even if the shower was cold!🥶 A diet of Nutella and jam wraps, rice, pasta and lentils led to a very welcome KFC after our pickup!
