Our Before and After School Club is here to make busy weekdays easier for families and more fun for children. We welcome primary school aged children from 7:30am before school and until 6pm afterwards, giving parents flexible wraparound care and children a safe, relaxed place to start and end their day.

In the mornings, children can settle in with breakfast, chat with friends and ease into the school day in a calm, supportive environment. After school, they come back to Happy Days for play, activities, outdoor time, crafts and a chance to unwind. Our team creates a homely atmosphere where children can choose what they’d like to do, finish homework if needed or simply enjoy time with friends.

Everything is designed to feel warm, familiar and family‑led, just like the rest of our nursery.

At Happy Days, we make the move to Reception feel natural and exciting for our children. Being based at Hermitage Primary School means they’re already familiar with the environment, and our team works closely with families to make sure every child feels ready for their next step.

We build independence in everyday ways; putting on coats and shoes, managing their own hygiene, helping them feel confident in looking after themselves. Staff from Reception classes and other Early Years settings are invited in to meet the children, chat with our team and learn about each child’s interests, strengths and learning journey.

We also prepare a transition document for each child, sharing helpful information, developmental progress and parent comments with their new setting. It’s a simple way to make sure everyone starts on the same page.

In the summer term, children enjoy fun PE sessions where they practise getting changed into their kit, along with stories and activities that help them understand what school will be like.

Our aim is always the same: a calm, positive transition where children feel secure, excited and proud of themselves.
