Every child can learn.

But that doesn’t mean every child will learn in the same way, at the same pace, or under the same conditions.

As adults, it can be so easy to focus on the outcome — the grade, the target, the completed work, the next step.

But sometimes the most important thing is stepping back and asking:

“What does this particular child need in order to learn?”

Maybe they need more time.
Maybe they need things explained differently.
Maybe they need movement, quiet, repetition or reassurance.
Maybe they need someone to believe in them when they’re struggling to believe in themselves.

Learning isn’t a race, and there isn’t one route that works for everyone.

This is one of the reasons I love working with students individually. Finding the approach that works for them can make such a difference — not just to their learning, but to their confidence too.

Because the goal isn’t to make every child learn the same way.

It’s to help each child discover how they learn best.

There’s nothing quite like getting feedback from the people you’re actually creating these resources for.

And while any feedback is hugely appreciated, I have to admit… it hits differently when it comes from the student themselves.

This lovely message came from a student who used my Year 7 → Year 8 Transition Guide — and it’s exactly why I created these resources in the first place.

Because going back to school after the summer can bring a whole mix of feelings. Having a checklist, some practical reminders and a chance to reset can make that return feel just a little more manageable.

Some students headed back to school last week, while others are returning this coming week — so if the transition still feels a little chaotic, there’s still time to put some support in place.

✨ My transition packs are still available for a range of year groups.

✨ I have limited availability for 1:1 Back to School Pep Talk sessions for students who would benefit from some individual time to talk through their worries and get themselves ready.

✨ And although it’s now too late to join this term’s live group Pause Play programme, the pre-recorded version is available all year round, and 1:1 Pause Play support is also available.

Because sometimes a little preparation, reassurance and the right strategies can make a BIG difference.

And a huge thank you to the parent who shared this with me — knowing that these are the student’s own words and that the guide genuinely helped them makes the feedback feel even more special.

Tomorrow’s the day!

I’m SO looking forward to starting the live group Pause Play session tomorrow evening.

For parents, watching your child struggle with stress, overthinking, overwhelm or the pressures of everyday life can be really hard. You want to help, but sometimes you’re not quite sure what to say, what to do, or how to give them practical tools they can actually use.

That’s exactly why I created Pause Play.

It’s a 10-week course designed to give young people practical mindfulness and wellbeing strategies they can use in real life — helping them learn to pause, breathe, notice what’s going on and respond rather than simply getting swept along by it all.

And if you missed out on this live round, you really don’t have to wait until January.

The pre-recorded, self-directed version is available to buy at any time, meaning your young person can work through the 10 weeks at their own pace, whenever works for them.

Or, if you feel they’d benefit from more individual support, 1:1 Pause Play courses are also available to enquire about.

So whether it’s the live group, self-directed course or 1:1 support, there’s a way to get started now.

You don’t have to have it all figured out today.

Not the next step.
Not the whole plan.
Not every decision.
Not exactly where you’re heading.

Sometimes, all you need to do is focus on what’s right in front of you and take one small step at a time.

There’s no prize for having everything sorted. And changing your mind, taking a pause, asking for help or simply giving yourself a bit more time is absolutely okay.

So if today feels a little uncertain, take a breath.

You don’t need all the answers today. You just need to give yourself permission not to have them.

And that’s something we practise in Pause Play too — learning to pause, breathe and create a little more space when life feels overwhelming.

We don’t always get to choose where we are in life.

Sometimes things don’t go to plan. Sometimes we find ourselves somewhere we never expected to be. And sometimes, we’re so busy trying to get to the next thing that we forget to pause and notice where we are right now.

Maybe there’s something to learn here.
Maybe there’s a reason to slow down.
Maybe this moment doesn’t need fixing.

And that’s a big part of what Pause Play is about.

Helping young people pause, breathe, notice what’s going on and develop practical strategies they can carry with them into everyday life — not to make life perfect, but to help them navigate it with a little more awareness and resilience.

Pause Play starts this Sunday, 6th September at 7pm.

And a little reminder that registration closes TODAY so I can get everything organised ahead of our first session.

If you’ve been thinking about signing your young person up, this is your final chance to join this live round.

Pause. Breathe. Restart.

There’s nothing quite like hearing that something you’ve created has genuinely made a difference.

Starting secondary school is a HUGE transition for our Year 6 children — new routines, new expectations, new teachers, new friendships… and often a whole lot of nerves too!

That’s exactly why I created my Year 6 → Year 7 Transition Pack: to help children feel more prepared, confident and ready for the move, while giving parents practical ways to support them along the way.

And messages like this one? They make my day 🥰

“It worked a treat xx”

If your child is making the move to secondary school, it’s not too late to give them a little extra support with that transition.

Because preparation isn’t about removing every worry — it’s about helping them feel ready to handle what comes their way.

A reminder for anyone who needs to hear it today…

Where you are right now isn’t where you’re going to stay forever.

Maybe things feel difficult. Maybe you’re not where you thought you’d be. Maybe you’re worried about what comes next.

But this moment is just one part of your story — not the whole story.

For our young people especially, it can be so easy to believe that one exam result, one friendship, one difficult term or one setback defines what happens next.

It doesn’t.

There are still lessons to learn, opportunities to discover, people to meet and plenty of unexpected turns along the way.

So take a breath. Give yourself some space. Keep moving forward, even if it’s one tiny step at a time.

Your present situation is not your final destination.

And who knows… the best might just be yet to come.

Back to school is happening…

For some families, the school bags are already packed, uniforms are out and the new-school-year nerves are kicking in.

For others, there’s still another week to enjoy before the alarm clocks start again.

Whenever your child is heading back, that transition can bring a whole mixture of emotions — excitement, nerves, overwhelm, uncertainty… sometimes all at once.

And that’s where a little preparation can make a big difference.

I have a few things available to help:

Back to School Guides – practical support for navigating the transition into a new year or new school.

Back to School Pep Talks – 60-minute online sessions for young people who are feeling anxious, overwhelmed or unsure about going back.

Pause Play – my 10-week mindfulness programme for 11–18 year olds, giving teens practical strategies to manage stress, overthinking and those big feelings. The next live round starts this Sunday, 6th September.

Booking for Pause Play closes this Friday so I have time to get all the admin sorted before we begin.

If your young person could do with a little extra support as they head into the new school year, drop me a message.

Because getting ready for school isn’t just about having the right books and stationery…

It’s about helping them feel ready too.

Is your child starting secondary school this September?

For some children, it’s all excitement.

For others, it’s a huge leap into the unknown.

The good news? A little preparation can make a massive difference.

I’ve created a collection of FREE resources to help Year 6 pupils (and their parents!) approach Year 7 with confidence:

• A Student Guide to starting secondary school
• A Year 7 Ready Checklist
• A Parent Guide packed with practical advice.

And if your child is feeling particularly anxious about the transition, I also offer one-to-one transition sessions and my Pause Play mindfulness programme to help them head into September feeling calmer and more confident.

Let’s help every child start secondary school believing they’ve got this.

Is your child moving into Year 8 this September?

Year 8 might not get as much attention as starting secondary school or beginning GCSEs, but it’s an important year.

It’s often the year when:
• Schoolwork becomes more challenging.
• Friendships begin to change.
• Independence grows.
• Confidence can wobble.
• Children start discovering what they’re really interested in.

As parents, it can sometimes be difficult to know how much to step in and how much to encourage them to work things out for themselves.

That’s exactly why I’ve created my FREE Year 7 – Year 8 Transition Pack.

Inside you’ll find:

• A Student Guide packed with practical advice and encouragement.
• A Student Checklist to help them start Year 8 feeling organised and confident.
• A Parent Guide full of simple ways you can support them through the year.

Whether your child is excited, a little nervous or somewhere in between, these resources will help them start the new school year feeling prepared and positive.

If your child would benefit from a little extra support with confidence, anxiety or managing school pressures, my Pause Play – Stop. Breathe. Restart. mindfulness programme is designed to give young people practical strategies they can use every day.

Let’s help them make Year 8 their best year yet.
