Please accept this post as official notice of the intention to hold the RHSA Annual General Meeting on Saturday 07th November 2026 at 11:30, in the Jellicoe Room at RHS. The Agenda will be sent out in due course; members who wish to put AOB items on the agenda (including any changes to the C&Rs) are to provide details to the Hon General Secretary at least 6 weeks prior to the AGM - to be received by Saturday 26th September 2026 to [email protected]

Stephen Traynor, our much valued and appreciated Hon. Treasurer is stepping down at the AGM, therefore this post becomes vacant and we are actively looking for a replacement. If anyone is interested in this role, then in accordance with the RHSA Constitution & Rules, the following process is to be followed:
All nominations are to reach the Hon. General Secretary in writing no later than two months prior to the AGM, which is 07th September 2026 to [email protected] nominations must be proposed and signed by at least two Full Members. The nominee must be a Full Member and must formally accept the nomination; nominations must be accompanied by the CV and manifesto of the nominee. Please note: Officers of the Association may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously known as a CRB check). Failure to accept this requirement will render the nominee ineligible for Office.
A further e-mail will be sent out shortly after nominations close on 07th September 2026, with CVs and Manifestos of any candidates. Ballot papers will also be sent out for those who wish to vote by post or e-mail, accompanied with voting instructions.

Along with Stephen Traynor stepping down, Stephen Fyles, who has given many years of voluntary service in acting as auditor of the RHSA accounts, is also stepping down - the Association thanks him for carrying out this service. We are therefore also seeking someone who can take on this role, on a voluntary basis, I understand that we do not require a fully certified accountant, but clearly someone with experience of auditing accounts would be beneficial. If you know of anyone, or you would like to volunteer for this, please let me know at [email protected] "

Speech day is over, everyone has gone home, the corridors and houses are quiet, the reality of life after RHS is starting to kick in and wow what an exciting future awaits all our newest members so WELCOME one and all to stories, laughter and reminiscing. Remember you are part of a huge global family of alumni who at a single request will be there to offer help, advice and friendship whether you went to school at the same time or if there are years and decades between you. Part of being a member of the RHSA is knowing that you always belong somewhere, no one other than us can understand where you came from, the bubble that is RHS and the stories and humour that go along with it. So do check in with us, let us know what you are up to, share the tea (as let’s face it who doesn’t love a bit of RHS gossip) and share your photos and allow us to walk beside you during your next steps.
For those if you who have not switched off reading the post whether old or young please share with us your leavers photos and any stories of your life post RHS and what directions you ended up going in.

Please see today’s announcement concerning the appointment of the new Head…

🎉 We are proud to announce the appointment of Mr Steve Dixon as Headmaster of the Royal Hospital School.

A respected and highly experienced senior leader, Steve has been at the heart of RHS since 2013, serving as Second Master before stepping into the role of Acting Headmaster earlier this year. During this time, he has led the School with clarity, care and a deep understanding of the RHS community, having a profoundly positive impact across the School.

An Oxford graduate, former Housemaster, Head of Chemistry and passionate advocate for the power of holistic education, Steve brings an enduring respect for the heritage and values of RHS, alongside an exciting vision to build on the School’s outstanding strengths and achievements.

As we continue to celebrate excellence at RHS and look ahead with confidence, we are excited for the next chapter of the School under Steve’s leadership.

Last night I had the privilege of representing the Association at the Joint Band Concert, we sponsored, with the Royal Hospital School Band and The Bands of HM Royal Marines from HMS Collingwood. The first half featured some excellent solo performances from both bands. The second half was a sunset ceremony on the parade ground featuring a drill display from the RHS Guard. The Inspecting Officer noting that the skills displayed by the band and guard would not have been out of place on a passing out parade at HMS Raleigh or Britannia RNC, Dartmouth - BZs to all involved! We've managed to find a private venue with limited capacity to host a meetup from 12pm before the Army vs Navy match to replace the Rosebine car park meetup. If you want to attend, please let me know the names, house and RHS attendance years plus the names of any guests, and I'll send the details separately. Thanks, Philip Howard (RHSA VP) 07930135433 or [email protected]

Is anyone driving to the Army - Navy match? We have a ticket for Rosebine car park for you. What's the catch? Would you be willing to "host" the pre-meeting drinks reception? And possibly post but not essential. RHSA sponsors the refreshments. Let us know if you are that hero!
Thanks, Philip Howard
