We are looking forward to seeing all our families from tomorrow.

We had some of our returning children start last week & it was just wonderful to see them.

This week, we look forward to seeing the rest of our returning families & welcoming our new families.

Reminder - baby & toddler group will now be held Tuesday & Thursday morning in the crypt & Friday afternoons in playgroup.

Well …

It’s a bit hot, don’t you think? 🥵☀️

We have had a very hot week here at Under 5’s.

Lots of water play was had this week, helping to try & keep the children cool.

Our story of the week was Handa’s Surprise, the children enjoyed using the circle room in small groups to listen to the story & using our story props alongside this. 🍍🍌🍊

We also froze some ice fruit cubes into pots to get the children cooling down by playing with ice. Using their hands & paintbrushes to melt the ice to get the fruit cubes out worked wonders.

Due to the extreme heat forecast for Friday, we will be closed.
Temperatures inside the building are expected to reach unsafe levels.
The safety and comfort of your children is our top priority.
We will reopen on Monday 29th June.

Who’s been eating all our porridge?? 🐻

The children thoroughly enjoyed our story of the week, Goldilocks and The Three Bears.

We had lots of real porridge in our home corner for the children to scoop & share. We also read the story in small groups with our props, allowing all children to pick a character to follow throughout the story.

With the sun appearing, we spent a lot of time in the garden this week, sand play & water play. We have a lovely new water tray that is the perfect height for the children but it doesn’t stop little spillages 🫗 so if we can have an extra set of clothes in your child(ren)’s bags that would be great.

We also created a wonderful sensory activity with shaving foam, bowls and spoons for the children to scoop & share, like they would the porridge. It was a great experience & even some beards were made 🥴🫣

Please stay safe this weekend, an Amber heat warning has been issued so plenty of water & shade.

If your child(ren) stay for lunch, please ensure that you speak to a member of staff regarding suncream.

What a week we’ve had 😲

We started our week with the tale of The Gingerbread Man, lots of story telling with an adult, acting out the story in small groups & pretending to make gingerbread men with ginger scented playdough.

Also, our pigs joined our beautiful display of houses 🐷 the children have enjoying retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs 📖

We have also started making our Father’s Day cards, the children really enjoy making these for their Dads, Grandads or special person in their life.

Yesterday, we held our Sponsored Toddle alongside St Augustine’s Nursery. It was a beautiful morning, the children started by taking part in an obstacle course on the field, then they had the rest of the morning to enjoy lots of activities with their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles & friends.

We are still counting up all the sponsorship money & we cannot thank you enough for all your support.

All monies raised will continue to support Under 5’s.

I’ll huff and I’ll puff & I’ll tell you all about how much fun we’ve had this week 🐺

We have started our traditional stories theme 📖 this week started it off with The Three Little Pigs 🐷 the children enjoyed listening to the story & retelling it in small groups.

We have made our own little houses to display, one of straw, one of sticks & one of bricks. We look forward to sharing these with you once completed & up on display.

In the garden (when its not been pouring with rain) we have loved building our own houses, using the play bricks & also the wet sand & duplo bricks.

Next week, we have the wonderful story of The Gingerbread Man.

Polite reminder, next Wednesday we have no playgroup session as it is our sponsored toddle. If you haven’t received an email regarding this, please speak to a member of staff.
