Title: A resilient approach to navigating the winter blues
Speaker: Prof Stephen Palmer PhD FAREBT. Coaching, Health & Counselling Psychologist
Platform: Zoom
The 'Winter Blues' is a popular term used by the public although it is not a medical condition. This presentation will consider the possible reasons for a mild, and temporary dip in mood, energy, and motivation that can happen during the winter months. It often occurs after the holiday season on our return to work and/or studying. Then the presentation will focus on practical, coping strategies including easy to use thinking skills to challenge any 'Winter Blues Thinking'.
In the UK, about 3% of people have significant winter depression which is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Therefore, knowing when to seek professional help will also be highlighted in this lecture.

Latest article: Transition Support as a Leadership Competency
This article builds on past work about transitions by introducing the idea of 'transition dimensions', which can offer additional insight and understanding when navigating transitional times. One of these dimensions 'visible vs hidden' is considered further in the context of the workplace, where transition support is an increasingly important leadership competency.
