A warm welcome to all our new Year 7s and Sixth Formers who have started with us today. Year 7s have made an excellent start to their week of transition activities, including Getting to Know You sessions in their forms, orienteering and learning about the inspirational women their houses are named after. They're rounding off the day today with some friendly competition run by our fantastic Sports Leaders.

Congratulations and well done to all Year 11 students from Hitchin Girls’ School receiving their results today.

Their results are exceptional, reflecting the hard work and dedication to their studies over the years, but in particular during Year 11. I would like to thank all who have supported our students in achieving their results.

It was wonderful to see so many happy students this morning as they celebrated achieving some of the school's best ever results, including a number of students with grade 9s across the board and 2 students celebrating commendations from the exam boards for being amongst the top achievers in the country.

I am incredibly proud of each and every student and all they have achieved. I look forward to welcoming many back into the Sixth Form in September; for those moving onto other opportunities I wish them every success for the future.

Once again, well done and congratulations to you all.

Congratulations to all of our students receiving their results today. Everyone at Hitchin Girls’ School is incredibly proud of the students' achievements which reflect a significant amount of hard work by them and those that have supported them.

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome our students back into school today and join them in celebrating their individual achievements, which included a clean sweep of A* grades for 2 students and many achieving all A* and A grades. Each and every student should be proud of what they have achieved.

These results have led to many students gaining a place at their desired university and this will see our students studying across the country at a wide range of establishments and studying an equally wide range of courses. The results have also led to students following other pathways such as apprenticeships or employment. The variety of opportunities and futures that await our students is incredible - from degrees in medicine to becoming a ski instructor in Japan.

Once again congratulations and well done! I wish each and every student all the very best for the next stage in their lives.

School's out! Have a safe, relaxing and fun summer everyone.

We'll look forward to seeing our new Year 7s, Year 12s and Year 13s on Thursday 3 September. We'll welcome back all other year groups on Friday 4 September.

Our Year 10 Business students worked hard on their Marketing topic, creating their own unique soft drink product. They put on a fantastic product launch, pitching to possible investors for a slice of their cash! The level of competition was high, but our winning teams were Jess and Cushla with their sustainable 'Smoovie' and Senuli, Amairah and Eve with their on-trend cold coffee 'Cando Coffee'. Well done to all our budding entrepreneurs!

🔉HGS Amplify Main Hall Upgrade Project - better equipment to better support our students 🔉

Our historic Main Hall is the heart of our community, where we hold assemblies and host guest speakers, and students have the chance to perform, present and develop their confidence. To support them in their performances and to help them be heard as they should, we need to upgrade our aging audio-visual equipment.

We are raising funds for:

🎤 Crystal clear audio and modern mics to support public speaking and presentation skills

🚥 Modern lighting to enhance events and performing arts productions, for both the performers and audiences alike

🎧 Industry-standard backstage equipment, so that students can learn technical skills for the professional world

After being rescheduled due to the high temperatures, the track finals finally took place last week to complete our Sports Week events. Our runners from across the Houses put in sterling performances with Bronte emerging as the overall winners!

Well done to our U15 cricketers who played brilliantly in the regional finals earlier this month.

They had won their county finals back in June and qualified for the regionals held at Essex's County Cricket Ground.

There were five teams from the region competing, and after winning their matches against Cambridgeshire and two Bedfordshire schools, our team had their last match against Essex, who had also won their first three games.

It was really close, but Essex just won with a few balls remaining. We came 2nd and our players are proud owners of their hard-won Silver medals - congratulations all!
