I went “back to school” two years ago (Sept 2021) to do GCSE English and Level 1 Maths in the evenings at my local FE College.
In Sept 2022 I went and signed up to do a GCSE Maths and an Access to Higher Education course, all whilst running my social entrepreneurship, Start-Bee Handwriting, as well as my own not for profit passion project, eduCCate Global. I was the oldest kid in my class!
Two weeks ago I signed up to begin my pathway to achieve the CIP (HR) qualifications (one evening a week at North Herts College) and this should take me the next three to four years.
Yesterday I started my first day of a degree course in Sound Production and Audio Engineering at Hertfordshire University (something I have always wanted to learn to do myself!).
I’ll be launching a new business in March 2024 to supercharge the Net Zero Skills Pipeline (because let’s face it, if we want something done then we must roll up our sleeves and get on with it!).
How many of us have reinvented ourselves many times over again in this life? And I’m wondering how many of us go back to school in our fifties to embark on an entirely new trajectory to the one we’ve been on previously?
It is never too late to go back to school and your local College is phenomenal. Who’d of thought that doing two GCSEs would help me decompress, refocus and set off on this exciting new path?!
Here’s a pic of me and my fellow students on Induction Day 1 (they all look so nervous!).
