Year 5 have been comparing the life cycles of mammals, insects and amphibians whilst exploring lifespans and gestation periods. A visit to the pond in the sunshine was a perfect end to the lesson as the children spotted large tadpoles and tiny froglets as well as other pond life.

We were delighted to invite local author and illustrator Chloe Savage into our school today. She inspired the children to follow their dreams and never give up. She shared her books with the children and they got a chance to be creative and design their own jellyfish. Thanks to Chloe for a wonderful morning!

In Reception and Year one we have been learning about stable structures in DT. Thinking about how the bottom of the structure support the stability and how it can help if the bottom is also weighted. The children developed this learning further in play and learn time, creating structure collaboratively and explaining how their structure is stable and even how tall they were.

Netball Club Update - B Team Hitchin Schools Netball Rally
Our B Team Netballers enjoyed another fantastic afternoon of netball in the sunshine at Highover School last Thursday, showing great spirit and determination throughout.
Playing eight matches back-to-back was a real challenge, but the team demonstrated impressive resilience, never letting their heads drop and continuing to give their all — just like our A Team.
A standout moment was a brilliant goal from Yasmin, which was met with an enthusiastic team celebration as everyone ran over to congratulate her.
With six of our eight players coming from Year 4, competing against teams largely made up of Year 6 pupils, their effort and teamwork were especially commendable.
A huge thank you to our staff and parents for their continued support and encouragement.

Impeccable behaviour and respect for our community shown by our class as we walked into town and home again. Well done Year 5!

Netball Club Update - A Team Hitchin Schools Netball Rally
Our amazing A Team netballers played seven matches of eight minutes each against some very tough opposition at Whitehill School last Monday, showing determination and teamwork throughout.
Although we didn’t secure a win, the team came incredibly close, with a 3–1 loss to William Ransom and a narrow 1–0 loss to Ickleford. A special highlight was our superstar Saanvi, who scored a fantastic long-range goal from the edge of the circle - earning a huge cheers from everyone watching.
The team never gave up, improved with every game, and truly embodied our MEPS Vision and Values: happiness, empathy, ambition, respect, and togetherness.
We are so very proud of them all, and thank you to everyone for your kind words of encouragement.

This morning, Year 6 were delighted to welcome MP for Hitchin, Alistair Strathern. We enjoyed learning about his experience of working as a Member of Parliament and believe we may have some future political journalists amongst us! We are now even more excited about our trip to the Houses of Parliament next week!
