To those doing your GCSES:
For many of you, today marks the first of your GCSE exams.
“These are the most important exams of your life.”
“You can’t have a future without GCSES.”
“To make something of yourself you have to do well in these exams.”
These are the kinds of things you’ve probably been hearing. This is why you’re possibly struggling to eat, finding it hard to sleep, moody, anxious, tearful.

Did you know there is no age limit to take your GCSES? And you can do them as many times as you want/need? Many, many people do just this. Because to expect perfection from every young person the first time round is unrealistic. To measure your ability in a couple of exams is unrealistic. Unfortunately our system isn’t fair.

Yes, GCSES are important. But they are NOT the be all and end all. They don’t determine who you are. They don’t measure your kindness, your bravery, your wonderful soul. They don’t measure how you support your friends, your passion for the things you love, your sense of humour, your quirkiness that makes you YOU. Your GCSES don’t make you a better or worse human being. These things do ⬆️
If things don’t go as well as you wished, you can try again in a few months.
Go in there and try your hardest. And if you don’t smash it the first time?
Well, there’s always next time 🫶

With only SIX WEEKS until the first English exam, now is the time to make sure you really know your quotes! I always recommend listening to Mr Bruffs quote songs. They’re catchy and he writes and plays them on his guitar himself. The quotes he uses are carefully selected so that they can be manipulated to be used with almost every theme / character. This means less quotes to actually learn!
