My Name is Donna Toner and I am the owner of Awe & Wonder Childminders. I love using open ended sustainable resources that grasp the childrens imagination and attention. I operate in a calm relaxed environment where the children feel welcomed and valued. The children and I make the most of nature going on adventures outdoors. Searching for the Gruffalo and magical fairies, building dens and huntin

g for natural treasures. We will often bring home conkers, pinecones and our other finds to mix and mash together to make mud pies or magical potions in our outdoor mud kitchen. We enjoy taking trips to visit the animals at the zoo, farms and playgroups. My setting is based at my home in a quiet cul-de-sac in Burbage with my Husband, two Daughters (Niamh 8, Maebh 2) and our pet Hamster crumbs. Together we crawl, we walk, we carry, we nurture, we explore, we play and we laugh! Side by side, holding hands, building confidence and ensuring your child gets the most from their experience with me. Creating, at their own pace, childhood memories that last a lifetime

I have worked in child care for twelve years and gained vast experience within an outstanding 120 place nursery with children from birth to five years old. Alongside this I studied Early childhood Studies at Warwick University. I have good basic knowledge of Makaton sign language which I would like to develop further. I have experience working with children with a wide range of abilities and will always accommodate a childs individual needs, ability and interests while encouraging them to reach their full potential. I try to encourage independence through all activities and tasks giving children a sense of self-sufficiency. Promoting their self esteem, confidence, motivation and perseverance giving them the skills they need in preparation for school readiness. As well as early years care I also provide before and after school care, drop offs and collection for school age children at Burbage Juniors and Infants. I offer a safe and nurturing environment. Where the children have access to many fun and challenging games and activities or a range of STEM activities, drawing, crafts and experiments. Alternatively I understand school can be exhausting for children and they might like to sit back and relax reading or with consent watch a limited range of age appropriate tv.
