Parents Testimonials:

"Starting preschool felt like a big step, but East Little Learners made it a joyful experience. Our child feels safe, loved, and excited to learn—and we cherish the creative crafts they proudly bring home. The staff are truly exceptional: thoughtful, caring, and completely trustworthy, giving us full confidence as our child begins their preschool journey." Cat you are an abs

olute star! Nothing is too much trouble and you aren't just there for the children, you are also an ear for us parents too! You're beaming smile and friendly greeting every morning makes the children so excited and happy to come! Watching how much ocean has grown over the past year is amazing! From a shy, nervous young lady to a confident bright girl! That's a massive credit to you! Also, all the time, effort and work you have put into making sure Daisy will be able to attend little learners and also building that bond with her and never giving up, even on her worst days! I couldn't think of anyone I could trust more to look after my girls and give them the best start in their school journey! A simple thank you is not enough!

Bridgwater Library has re-opened at Binford Place just in time for the summer holidays! We’re excited to welcome everyone back and would be grateful if you could share these activities with your students.

Summer Reading Challenge

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme is ‘Read to the Beat’! The Summer Reading Challenge kicked off on Saturday 4th July and runs into September. Children will need to sign up at their local library, then read six books over the summer to collect stickers and win a certificate and a badge. All books count towards the challenge, whether they’re fiction or non-fiction, chapter books, comic books, reading schemes, or audiobooks. There is also a mini-challenge running for under 4s!

Treasure Hunts

We’ll have a different treasure hunt running every week of the school holidays! Our treasure hunts are free to take part in. Children can collect a sheet from our enquiry desk, then will need to find all the pictures hidden around the library to win a sticker.

Musical Craft – Tuesday 4th August

We’ll be running a musical craft event at Bridgwater Library on Tuesday 4th August! This will be a free event, but spaces are limited so booking is essential. There will be two sessions for this activity:

Session 1: 11am – 12pm

Session 2: 2pm – 3pm

To book a space, please email [email protected] or speak to staff in the library.

RSPCA Drop-In Workshop & Craft

Alex from the RSPCA will be joining us for some fantastic workshop & craft sessions at North Petherton, Bridgwater and Burnham Libraries this summer! These drop-in workshops are FREE to attend. Children remain the responsibility of their adult at all times.

These sessions are taking place:

North Petherton Library: Wednesday 19th August 2pm - 3:30pm

Bridgwater Library : Monday 24th August 10:30am - 12pm

Burnham-on-Sea Library: Monday 24th August 2pm - 3:30pm

Colouring Wall

Help us decorate our children’s library by adding a picture to our summer colouring wall! This summer, we’re asking children to colour in an instrument to join our orchestra.

These last two days we are all about playing at Little Learners. The children were given the option of what they would like to do throughout today. They have played party games, board games, invented their own games and even some old favourites. We are looking forward to finding out what we dream up tomorrow.

As we begin our final few days of this school year we would like to say good luck to all our Butterflies going into reception in September. You are all amazing and we are so excited to see what new adventures come with joining school. To our Caterpillars becoming Butterflies - we are so excited to have you for another year and to our Caterpillars and new starters - we are looking forward to all the fun we will have.
From myself and all the team here at Little Learners it has been wonderful having you all as our Little Learners, we will miss our leavers greatly, but will look forward to seeing you when we visit.
We would also like to wish our wondeful Eleanor Mattock the best of luck in your new adventure. You will be amazing and they are so lucky to have you! Eleanor recently completed her level 3 apprenticeship with us and will be leaving at the end of this school year.
A very big welcome to the lovely Erin who will be joining us from September for her own apprenticeship.
We hope you all have the best 6 week break.
Just a reminder our last day in preschool is Tuesday 21st July.

Day 4 of Enrichment week done.
The children enjoyed having ‘A day at the movies’.
We started our day having a run about in the garden to shake all our sillies out then moved indoors to have our ‘cinema snack’ and ‘film’. The children chose Zog. We then decided to make our own train.
We are looking forward to tomorrow and our end of year party.

☀️ Neurodiversity During a Heatwave ☀️
The hot weather can be challenging for everyone, but for many people with ADHD or autism, it can feel completely overwhelming.
Heat affects how our brains and bodies work and can make it harder to concentrate, regulate emotions and cope with everyday tasks. Sensory overload, increased irritability, exhaustion and feeling emotionally drained are all common experiences.
Those with ADHD and/or Autism may not always recognise when they're becoming overheated or overwhelmed.

A few simple things can make a real difference:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
🧢 Wear lightweight clothing and stay in the shade where possible.
❄️ Keep your environment cool with fans, closed curtains or cool cloths.
⏰ Avoid unnecessary activity during the hottest part of the day.
🧩 Keep routines as simple and flexible as possible.
💜 Be patient with yourself and with others.

If today feels harder than usual, that's okay. You're not failing. You're doing your best in difficult conditions, and that is enough.

Day 3 Enrichment complete.
The children had a wonderful time with the water/ bubble activities. They had their own water fight which the adults were told they ‘had to’ join and finished it all off with a cool down ice pole.
We are looking forwards to tomorrow’s ’A day at the movies’ activity.
