Being busy is the easiest thing in the world to hide behind.

Nobody questions a founder who's working every hour.

So the actual problem sits there for years as you scratch your head.

Comment or DM me 'Hunter OS' and I'll send you the details to solve this problem for good.

Your mouth sits a couple of centimetres under your nose and you still need someone else to tell you your breath smells like s**t.

Proximity is the problem.

You’re closer to your business than anyone alive, which is exactly why you can’t see the shape of it.

And a fast, crowded brain never gets far enough away from anything to look at it properly.

So you spend months circling something a stranger would spot in ten minutes.

Sometimes it just takes someone grabbing you by the shoulders and asking what you’re doing.

I used to lose weeks to decisions I could have undone in an afternoon.

A new offer, a new ad campaign, a new way of running the week.

All of it agonised over like the whole business was riding on it.

Always leaving me in a state of paralysis and frustration.

Bezos splits decisions into two doors.

Go through a type 1 and you can’t come back. [one-way door]

Go through a type 2 and if you don’t like the room, you walk straight back out. [two-way door]

Around 80% of what we sit and agonise over in business is a type 2 door.

So now I check which door I’m stood in front of, and if it’s a type 2 I give myself permission to walk through it and find out.

Which is how you move fast without being reckless.

This is a snippet from a private mastermind I ran for my clients recently.

Nick spent a few years working alongside David Attenborough.

Of everything he could have taken from that, this is the habit he kept.

Ten minutes a day sat outside doing nothing.

Nothing in his ears. No walk with a purpose. No steps to hit. Just sat there.

To a brain running at our speed that sounds like ten minutes wasted, right up until you actually try it.

Attenborough is still out there working at an age when most people stopped decades ago. Worth a look at what he does with his mornings.

This is from my chat with Nick Shoolingin-Jordan, who directed a Netflix number one for Spielberg with ADHD he didn't know he had.

Bad ideas are easy to turn down.

The ones that cost you are the genuinely good ones that showed up at the wrong time.

And it gets harder with time, not easier.

The better you get, the more opportunities land on your desk.

Ten years in and there are more now than there have ever been.

So opportunity and distraction start to look identical.

What helps me is a parking lot list.

Nothing gets binned, it just gets a date that isn’t today.

Your brain will let go of an idea once it knows it’s written down somewhere.

This is a clip from the Inner Circle call with my clients this week.

Nobody warns you that being full of ideas is an admin job.

Divergent thinking is why you spot things other people walk straight past.

It’s also why there are forty things in front of you instead of one.

Every idea you have is another box to sort.

More options, more noise, and no order to any of it.

The ideas arrive for free.

Ranking them is the bit that costs you so much energy.

Some of the best business owners I know can look reckless from the outside.

They hear an idea and they’re already moving on it before they’ve properly thought it through.

If we’re real... It’s the reason they’re miles ahead of everyone still deliberating.

Unless your life, your health or your kids are in danger, almost everything is a door you can walk back out of.

I bought the supplements.

I bought the apps that were going to fix my focus.

Every time I couldn't concentrate, I added another thing into the mix.

Then I heard someone say focus is just the subtraction of everything else.

Now it all goes through one question. How much of this can I remove?

Clean desk. No screens in the bedroom, because then it isn't a decision I have to make at 11pm.

My output has gone up and I'm doing less to get there.

This is from my chat with Nick Shoolingin-Jordan, who directed a Netflix number one for Spielberg with ADHD he didn't know he had.

Picking which fire actually matters in your business is where a brain like ours falls over.

Executive function is the CEO of the brain.

The one who tells you what to do and when to do it.

Ours is on holiday... Permanently.

So when three things are burning at once, and in business there always are, we either pour ourselves into the most interesting one or we freeze and do nothing at all.

Knowing that has changed how I run my weeks more than any productivity system ever did.

This is a snippet from a private mastermind I ran for my clients recently.
