🦆🌿 A Walk To The Duck Pond! 🌿🦆

This morning, some of our Over 2s enjoyed a lovely local walk to the duck pond! The children had a wonderful time exploring their surroundings and were fascinated by the ducks, sparking lots of conversations about their different colours, features and habitats. 🦆

On our way, we took a walk through the woods, where the children used their senses to discover and explore the world around them. They listened carefully to the sounds of nature and were especially excited to hear the birds chirping in the trees! 🌳👂

We also used our outing as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of keeping safe when out and about. We talked about road safety as well as keeping safe around animals.

We were also joined by PC Jack Daws on our walk, who helped support the children’s understanding of safety. 😊🌟

🌟🎨Self Portraits🎨🌟

This week, our Over 2's have shown interest in exploring the topic 'All about me'. We have been encouraging the children to use mirrors to explore their facial features. Many of them showed confidence in identifying and naming different features such as their eyes, nose, mouth and hair.

Using their recognition of themselves, they showed creativity in making their own self portraits, using a range of colours to create different marks. The children made connections between the marks in which they were making, linking them to their different features and characteristics.

To further extend the children's learning, we sparked conversation around how we are all different and how our individual features and characteristics make us unique. The children enjoyed looking at the similarities and differences between themselves!💛

🧼Hygiene🧼

The Over's room have been learning about hygiene and germs this week. They've taken ownership of their daily care by practicing washing their hands and faces, telling us why we need to wash our hands and learning about the importance of washing all the germs away. Many of the children explored our new independent station, using the mirror to help them wash their faces after mealtimes.

🧘‍♀️Yoga🙆‍♂

Today the Over's room have been practicing different yoga poses. They've chosen from a selection of cards then taken turns to try and copy the poses, developing their gross motor skills, balancing and coordination.

🎨Creative Colour Exploration🎨

Today, our Over 2s have shown creativity through a sensory art activity, exploring paint and colours!

The children used straws to blow bubbles into coloured paint before carefully transferring the bubbles onto paper to create beautiful bubble prints.🫧

They watched curiously as the bubbles formed and were fascinated by the unique patterns they created.

The children explored colour mixing by pouring different coloured paints into the tuff tray. They observed how the colours changed as they mixed together and enjoyed using their hands to explore the paint freely!💛

🌟July Employee of the month - Ellie!🌟

Congratulations to Ellie, our July employee of the month!
Ellie has settled into our setting so well and has built such special bonds with all of the children - who absolutely adore her! 💛 Her bubbly, and positive nature brings so much joy to everyone around her, and she is such a valued member of our team.
We are so lucky to have you, Ellie. Thank you for all of your hard work and support!🩷

🚗🌟 Road Safety Fun! 🌟🚗

This morning, our Over 2s enjoyed exploring the importance of road safety through our car garage role-play activity!

The children used their imaginations as they moved the cars along the roads and through the tunnels, enthusiastically imitating the sounds the vehicles make.

Together, we explored the key features of road safety and discussed different ways we can stay safe when crossing the road. The children confidently shared their ideas, explaining that we should "look both ways and make sure there are no cars" and that "we should cross carefully."

Using the small world characters, the children worked together to help them cross the road safely, identifying potential hazards along the way and thinking about how to avoid them!

🎓✨ Nursery Graduation 2026 ✨🎓

What a lovely afternoon we had celebrating our Preschool Graduation yesterday! 🌟
We are so incredibly proud of each and everyone of our graduates, it’s been a pleasure to watch them grow, learn and flourish during their time at the Old Station Nursery. From making new friends and learning new skills to growing in confidence every single day.
A big Thank you to our wonderful families for your continued support, we hope you enjoyed celebrating with us!
