First day back and we’re not going to let a little bit of rain stop us! 🌧️☔️

A walk to the shop was the perfect opportunity to get outside, enjoy some fresh air and embrace whatever the weather decided to throw at us!

Because in our world, there’s no such thing as bad weather… just the wrong clothes! 😉

Today we celebrate the incredible woman who completely changed the way I see teaching and learning. Maria Montessori didn’t just create an approach to education — she changed the way we look at children. ❤️

Her belief in following the child, encouraging independence, nurturing curiosity and allowing children to learn through their own experiences has completely transformed my way of teaching.

I absolutely love everything about the Montessori approach. Watching children become confident, capable, curious little people and seeing them take their learning out into the world is truly magical. ✨

I feel so lucky to have discovered Montessori and to be able to bring her philosophy into my work every day.

When a parent shares a moment like this, and you see a child taking what they’ve learned with you into their own world, it’s a beautiful reminder of why this work is so rewarding.

Watching children carry their learning beyond our curriculum and into everyday life is exactly why Montessori is so magical. The learning doesn’t stop when they leave—it becomes part of who they are. ❤️

Watching the children build the Short Bead Stair from one bead to ten is a wonderful hands-on maths experience. 🌈 As each coloured bead bar was carefully placed, they created a beautiful triangle while developing number recognition, sequencing, counting, and an understanding of quantity. Montessori learning makes abstract maths concepts visible, meaningful, and fun! ✨

Matching animals to their picture cards is a simple activity with so many learning opportunities. 🦁🦒🐘

As children carefully observe, compare and match each animal, they develop visual discrimination, concentration, language and early classification skills. We also take time to notice each animal’s unique features—such as the tiger’s and zebra’s stripes, the elephant’s tusks, the giraffe’s long neck and the lion’s mane. These conversations help children build rich vocabulary, strengthen their observation skills and begin to recognise the characteristics that make each animal unique.

Learning really does come to life when children can explore with their hands as well as their eyes, making meaningful connections through real, hands-on experiences.
