5 top tips to boost your child’s 11 plus success chances

1) Do not leave it too late.
Some parents/guardians start their childrens 11 plus preparation in Year 2, this is too early. Some a month before the exam. This is too late.
We at MA Premier Tuition, advise starting 12-18 months before the exam. Starting too early will result in the child ‘burning out’, too late and there’s simply not enough time.

2) Time Management
The 11 plus exams are timed, therefore time management is key. However, research has shown that this can be a major challenge to students taking the 11 Plus.
At MA Premier Tuition, we focus on time management, with timed questions and tests. We develop this skill on an ongoing basis.

3) Practice Mock Tests
Practice makes perfect. Children have never done such tests before, so it is important that they have practiced them before hand. We don’t want any child to panic under the pressure.

4) Read, Read, Read!
Lack of vocabulary can pose difficulties in the 11 plus. Therefore to improve vocabulary it is imperative that children read regularly, and that they are exposed to a range of vocabulary.
