When we started our business, we built our own CNC machine. It took us an entire week of evenings, every tiny component has been fitted by us, we know our machine better than the back of our hands. We are former engineers by trade (albeit software) and problem solving and engineering best practice runs through our blood.

Why does this matter? It’s what give our toys the engineers edge. And what’s to come this year will surely reflect this!

We were forced to slow down last year while we welcomed our third baby, but this year we are taking this business to the next level and bringing you unique products and lines you certainly won’t see anywhere else.

You’re going to want to hit like and follow if you haven't already! 👆

We can’t wait, can you?

If you've been watching our stories you will have seen that we've been sorting through our workshop and organising a seconds sale for all products that didn't quite make the cut. Perfectly functional but not quite as perfectly pretty as we like to send out at full price. i.e small d***s and natural differences in the wood grain.

Our seconds SALE will be going live THIS TUESDAY, with up to 50% discounts.

So save the date! (or go to our stories and follow the countdown) 😜

Sorted 😉 geddit?

It's true! Play has so many benefits and is the best way for children to learn. And adults too!

What a lovely calm looking moment, thanks for sharing .to.a.boy

"This is our third time introducing it since we got it on his birthday back in April. The first 2 times, he hasn't shown any interest in tracing with his finger or using the stylus - and so I held it back a little longer this time around.

So far, so good!

It's strange to see him use his left hand as he usually uses his right predominantly. It will be interesting if he becomes a lefty like his mama!

I'm also going to look at using this as a bit of a meditation board when emotions run high, one H is used to having it out. (Idea from .family.montessori - thank you!)

All round, this is such a brilliant resource to have!"

Curiosity and activity come together.

5 years ago, we had been in our cottage for about a year, we didn't have children yet and we were already fairly minimalist. One day someone came round to buy an old guitar from us, as she walked into the living she exclaimed "wow, you can tell you don't have kids, your house is so neat!" and i replied, "are you kidding? i haven't tidied all week, this place is a mess!". She laughed and I see why now.

Fast forward 5 years and we've been parents for almost 4 of those, and in that time we've had three children.
So there are now 5 humans living in our cottage and naturally much more stuff. NOW i totally get that persons comment. She was not exaggerating!

These days, we're all about the versatile, multi-use/open ended toys. Things we can play with in lots of different ways whilst not taking up a huge amount of precious space. Leaving more room for the boys to move around.

Which brings me to our sorting trays which are SO versatile and can be used for math, literacy, sensory play, sorting is just the beginning. Here's a little activity introducing maths operation symbols and basic addition. Last week we used this same tray for sensory rice play.

Did you underestimate the amount of mess that comes hand in hand with having children, before you had children?? (of course we wouldn't have it any other way 🤣)

Time for an adventure!

Rick has been sanding cylinders for days to replenish our stock, I think his hand may be stuck in a weird claw shape forever after this 🤣

Did you know you can purchase these as loose parts, as well as bags of small wooden balls and cylinders with holes through (great for lacing).

If you could be doing anything right now, what would it be?

Have you ever noticed that when your child really WANTS to learn something, they pick it up in an instant.
Our eldest has a sudden love for reading, he carries his favourite books around all day, he studies them, and takes them to bed, we do 2 or 3 play based reading activities with him every week, so it feels almost like he is teaching himself because he is ready.

Observation is the biggest tool. Noticing what skills a child is working on means you can provide them with the best materials.

What skills have you noticed your child working on lately?

Our cylinder toys have been our best sellers on the run up to Christmas. Lots of you have been bundling them together too! If any of you who’ve purchased one or more would like to share some photos of chubby little fingers using them so you can all stop seeing this photo of my haggard hand, Facebook will thank you 😉😜

Send help! This storm is putting the brakes on our outdoor play and our highly active (and I don’t say that lightly) 2 and 3 year old are literally climbing our bare stone walls.

Sensory play is keeping us just about sane. I conveniently found the ocean blue sensory rice I bought from AGES ago and put away for a rainy day.

Cue rainy day and hey presto! Go nuts kids. well… it bought me a peaceful (kind of 🤣) hour anyway, I’ll take that.

Sorting trays and cylinders available to purchase on our website.

The Montessori way involves giving even young babies and toddlers the opportunity to experience everyday life in a way that is similar to how we experience it as adults! One way to do this is to use a weaning table instead of a highchair. A weaning table should allow your baby to access it safely and sit or get up from the table as they please. Have you tried a weaning table with your children? Share in the comments!

Thanks for sharing .to.a.boy! We’re happy H is enjoying the tracing board 😀

“A little activity this morning which has gone down so well, much better than I thought it would. H has been using the small spoon to transfer the pom poms from the bowl, onto the tracing board and then transferring them back into the bowl. A great activity for quiet time!”

We’re so happy to hear you’re loving our ring stacker 😊 .marlena

“Simple is the best…
I often find the simplest of toys catch Ella’s attention most. She wasn’t ever that interested in the stacking toys but she absolutely loves this ring stacker from I think due to the simplicity of this toy she has the ability to fully focus on the task without any distractions of colours or shapes 🥰🤗 Absolutely loving this ring stacker 🥰 Linked in bio”
